Do you live in a high fire risk area?
If your bin collection day is on a Friday, then you live in a designated high-fire risk area.
We postpone waste collection in these areas on catastrophic days - this is not the same as a total fire ban day. If this occurs, leave your bins out until they are collected.
How to place bins out for collection
Place your bins out the night before and bring them in by the end of your collection day.
Present your bins
At least half a metre (50cm) apart
With a minimum of 1 metre clearance from parked cars or any other obstructions
With a minimum of 1 metre clearance from trees, light poles or any other obstructions.
In a hammerhead or court bowl (cul-de-sac) Place your bins on the straight section of the street for collection. Keep the bowl of court free of parked cars.
In a dead end street Place your bins on one side to assist with collection. Keep the end of the dead end street free of parked cars. |
Get help taking out your bins
We offer a collection service for residents who, due to frailty, disability, medical or mobility conditions, are unable to place their bins out for the weekly waste collection.
An El Niño summer is coming. Recent rainfall has supercharged fuel loads. Dry conditions will increase fire risks next summer, especially grass fires.

The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is a great way to connect with the birds in your backyard no matter where your backyard happens to be. A suburban backyard, a local park, a patch of forest, down by the beach, or the main street of town.
You can count as many times as you like over the week, we just ask that each count is completed over a 20-minute period.
The data collected assists BirdLife Australia in understanding more about the birds that live where people live.
You can record your bird count via a webform, or using the Aussie Bird Count app.
For more information go to the Aussie Bird Count website.

We will explore how to go about this complicated exercise including:
- what to plan
- how to estimate the cost, and zoom in on the actual cost through the process
- when to use a travel agent and when not to use a travel agent
- economy versus premium economy versus business class – air travel
- fly/drive versus bus tours
- consideration of train travel versus car versus bus for medium distances
- travel insurance
- difference between travelling to Europe, USA and Asia – language, culture and cost
- using money overseas
- internet and phone access
- planning for medication
- and much more depending on where the discussion and questions take us.
The session will be guided by an experienced overseas traveller and is not commercially motivated.
The main focus of the sessions will be to answer questions in advance of your proposed planning and travel – especially if you have not travelled internationally or not travelled for many years.
