The presentation includes an in-depth … is required and spots are limited. Manningham Function Centre Environment and Sustainability Waste and Recycling …

Did you know that Australian households send approximately 250kg of food to landfill every year, and that food waste is one of the top three producers of carbon emissions in the world?

It makes sense to change our food waste habits if we want to reduce our overall carbon footprint. The good news is that a little bit of creativity with your ‘scraps’ can have a huge impact.

Join permaculture and sustainability educator, Anna The Urban Nanna, to learn why and how to flip your relationship with food waste for good, by adopting ‘scraptastic’ approaches in the kitchen.

This free face-to-face presentation will help you learn how to make the absolute most of your weekly shop to not only reduce your food waste output, but also reduce your shopping bill too. The presentation includes an in-depth exploration of scraptasatic cooking options and ideas; a presentation table/display of various scraptastic creations; and examples of useful books and resources to help you get the most out of your scraps.

This session includes tasting samples, so please specify any allergies at the time of registration.

Registration is required and spots are limited.

We invite you to join us in acknowledging the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) as we gather together to recognise the strengths, contributions and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Attendees are welcomed to join us in raising the Pride Flag on the concourse out the front of the Civic Centre. We will then move into the function rooms to listen to and learn from our guest speaker, Sally Goldner, share her lived experiences and speak to this year's IDAHOBIT theme.

2024 IDAHOBIT theme "No one left behind: Equality, freedom and justice for all".

Please note: registrations are required for this event.

IDAHOBIT is internationally recognised as May 17.

Does it feel that you have things to do, places to go, people to meet…. but something’s missing?

Does it seem that, in retirement, your life has lost a sense of meaning or that you’re just marking time? What if it doesn’t need to be like that?

We often hear the phrase 'a work in progress' and it's usually used in the context of younger people. But what if it's always true, no matter our age?

In this interactive session you’ll get the chance to explore that missing bit. To find out why you’ve never stopped being a work in progress and that you can reconnect with that sense of yourself.

Participants will need to have a pen and paper in order to fully participate.
