We are looking for two emerging mural artists to work with acclaimed First Nation's mural artist Robert Michael Young. Together you will create a ground mural as part of the activation of Templestowe Village Pop-Up Park.
Each artist will deliver a ground mural measuring approximately 4 x 2 metres.
Robert will guide you through the creative process from concept to installation.
Robert’s stunning native animal mural, situated outside the Templestowe branch of Bendigo Bank, will be used to inspire and reflect on cultural modes of storytelling and explore connection to place.
You will support the development and running of a community workshop.
The workshop will engage with Templestowe community members, young people, traders and visitors to the village.
The outcome of this workshop will be a temporary and public community led artwork.
This opportunity is for two Melbourne based emerging artists wishing to gain professional experience in:

This project is funded by the Victorian Government’s COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund.

Artists must be available onsite for up to 6 days over the proposed project timeframe. This is currently scheduled for June 2022. The project contains flexibility to meet evolving COVID-19 restrictions and dates may change.

Artists will need to hold Public Liability Insurance up to $20,000,000 and hold appropriate work cover and personal injury insurance.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will also be required.

You will need a Works and Drainage Permit (WDP) to undertake works that impact Manningham’s assets.

Wonga Park Reserve is the hub of the local community and comprises 7.7 hectares of open space. The reserve caters to sporting competition and recreation activities including cricket, netball, tennis, walking and jogging, BMX, playground, barbecues, picnics and connecting with nature. ...
Wonga Park Reserve is the hub of the local community and comprises 7.7 hectares of open space. The reserve caters to sporting competition and recreation activities including cricket, netball, tennis, walking and jogging, BMX, playground, barbecues, picnics and connecting with nature.
Enter from either the community centre on Old Yarra Road or Launders Ave, Wonga Park.
There are three playgrounds at Wonga Park Reserve.
The playground between the tennis courts and community hall caters for children aged one to seven years, with a junior play unit.
The playground overlooking the main sportsground and next to the barbecues is more challenging with fun climbing, swinging and balancing opportunities.
The Gooligulch playground is based on the Graeme Base book My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch. This playground allows children to ride kangaroos, befriend wombats, emus and other characters under the watchful eye of Grandma.
This popular facility provides a place for young people to come together and improve their BMX skills on a dirt bike track. Three jump circuits of varying skill levels are provided and jumps should not be modified to exceed 1.5 metres.
This is an off lead reserve where dogs may be unrestrained provided that the dog is under effective control and not within 15 metres of the playground, barbecue or a sporting event.
Wonga Park Reserve offers soccer and cricket pitch hire.

Since we recognised the Climate Emergency in 2020, we’ve introduced several initiatives to help us move towards our zero emission targets – for Council by 2028 and for the Manningham community by 2035.
Here’s how we’re supporting you to act on climate, both individually and together as a community.
We’re making individual change feel less solo by sharing handy resources, connecting you with government discounts and even providing a year’s supply of compostable bin liners.

We’re supporting households to go electric with free resources, webinars and information sessions. Residents can also access installers and government discounts through our partnership with Solar Savers. The benefits? The opportunity to create a healthier, more efficient home while also powering a cleaner future. | |
| 2. A network of public electric vehicle (EV) chargers |
Considering purchasing an electric vehicle (EV)? Owning one will soon be more convenient in Manningham, as we’re rolling out a network of nine public EV chargers from early 2025. The chargers will be powered by 100 per cent renewable energy, through government accredited GreenPower. | |
| 3. FOGO support (and a free roll of liners!) |
The FOGO service is one of the simplest ways to reduce carbon emissions. By using our FOGO bins, we can decrease the waste sent to landfill to create a healthier environment for us all. This means placing the right items in your FOGO bins and using the certified compostable liners (that meet the AS4736 standards), as these decompose. To make this simpler, we’re providing each Manningham household with a free roll of 150 compostable liners (approximately one year’s supply), available for collection from the Manningham Civic Centre or Council Depot. We’re also sharing FOGO tips and tricks, ‘how to’ videos, translated language guides and more to help you with FOGO. Explore our helpful FOGO resources. | |
