… history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations communities. …
This exhibition is no longer showing in the Manningham Art Gallery.

The Unfinished Business exhibition reveals the stories of 30 First Nations people with disability.

Their deeply personal stories are complex and intertwined with Australia’s political and social history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations communities. This was a collaborative project between participants and Artist and Social Documentarian, Belinda Mason Knierim OAM.

With thanks to Australian Museum for loaning Unfinished Business to Manningham.

Program information

  • Suitable for all genders

Classes are for children aged two to six years with the following sessions:

  • two to three years - 9.00am to 10.00am
  • three to four years - 10.00am to 11.00am
  • four to six years - 11.00am - 12.00pm

Terms and conditions

Participants must be Manningham residents to qualify for the subsidised rate of $5. All other participants will be charged $10.

Eligible families can apply for a discount for multiple children.

To secure one of the low-cost places, you will need to:

  1. complete the online form to receive your discount code
  2. register with your discount code via the Ready Steady Go Kids website and complete payment.

Aussie Backyard Bird Count - Breakfast with the Birds

Participate in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count with a morning walk with ecologist John Harris.   ...

Join local ecologist John Harris as he takes you on a journey through Warrandyte State Park’s Fourth Hill.

John will undertake a bird survey and help you identify birds found in the Warrandyte area. 

Walk rating: 3km moderate walk, includes steep and narrow sections, creek crossing, slippery sections and tripping hazards.

Food and snacks

A light breakfast will be provided at the end of the walk. 

If you have any special dietary requirements, we recommend bringing your own food and snacks. 

What to bring and wear 

Bring a water bottle, wear solid shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring your own binoculars so you don't miss a thing!

Download the Aussie Bird Count Smartphone Application on Android and Apple before the walk and bring your smartphone on the day.

Where to meet

The meeting place will be at Gold Memorial Drive Picnic Ground. 10 minutes before the walk starts.

Please note: the nature walk could be cancelled due to extreme weather.

Unfinished Business Documentary Free Screening
… history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations Communities. …

​Join us this NAIDOC week for a special screening of the Unfinished Business Documentary at Doncaster Library.

This moving documentary tells the stories of 30 First Nations people living with disabilities. Their deeply personal stories are complex and intertwined with Australia’s political and social history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations Communities.

Their stories are also featured in the Unfinished Business exhibition, which is showing at Manningham Art Gallery until Saturday 29 July.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Uncle John Baxter: Latja Latja/Narungga man, Board Member Reconciliation Victoria and First Peoples Disability Network, Aboriginal Partnership Coordinator - Brotherhood of St Laurence/NDIS, participant and creative collaborator of Unfinished Business. 

Attendees will also have the chance to view the exhibition at their own pace.

The Unfinished Business Documentary is a creative collaboration between brothers, Liam and Dieter Knierim, Belinda Mason Knierim OAM, and participants.

This is a free and accessible event. Bookings not required. Refreshments will be provided.

Kelly Sports school holiday program

Manningham Council are partnering with Kelly Sports to offer a limited number of low-cost, full and half day places in their holiday program.  ...

Kelly Sports has summer entertainment covered with a jam-packed holiday program filled with sport and recreation activities. From soccer and cricket, to tag games, kids will have a blast staying active and learning new skills.

The Kelly Sports team are supportive and encouraging. Their aim is to help kids get active, develop skills, build confidence and gain a lifelong love for sports and recreation.

Manningham Council are partnering with Kelly Sports to offer a limited number of low-cost, full and half day places in their holiday program. 

Participants can select from a range of activities, times and days. Spaces are limited, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Program information

  • classes are for children aged 4 to 12 years
  • participants must be Manningham residents to qualify for the subsidised rate
  • only one application can be submitted per child

Any comments or private messages directed to us while the stream is live will not be presented to Council or have a bearing on the conduct of the meeting.

To help you remove garden waste to prepare for bushfire season, you can drop off either one car boot, station wagon, ute or a 6‘x4’ level trailer load of garden waste on certain dates throughout the year.

 

Who can use this service?

You need to live in a Bushfire Prone Area to use this service. We will ask you to show proof of residency (either a driver's licence or rates notice) at the check-in point on the day. If someone else drops off the garden waste for you, make sure you provide them with your proof.

Bramleigh Estate is located at 420a Ringwood-Warrandyte Road, Warrandyte Victoria 3113.  There is parking available at the venue.

At the 27 May Manningham Council Meeting, the draft Council Plan, draft 2025-26 Budget, draft 10 year financial plan and the draft Revenue and Rating Plan were tabled. These have been developed in line with Manningham's newly endorsed Community Vision 2040 to help shape the future of Manningham.

These draft strategic documents are now available on the Your Say Manningham website and will be presented for endorsement at the 30 June Council Meeting.

The draft Asset Plan 2025-2035 and the Council Plan Action Plan will be made available at an upcoming Council meeting.

The strategic documents are informed by extensive community engagement conducted throughout 2024-25.  

At the heart of this work was the deliberative community panel – a collaborative effort that brought together 37 community members to play a crucial role in helping determine key priorities for Manningham.

Extensive community consultation informed both Council's strategic planning and the Community Panel’s deliberations, ensuring that the plans are grounded in the community's priorities, needs and aspirations.

This consultation included a community-wide survey last year, where 1,260 community members shared what matters most to them and which three areas they thought Council should focus on. Council also held a series of targeted conversations with key groups and residents including young people, older adults, multicultural communities and partners.

On top of that, many community members sent in their own ideas and suggestions through individual submissions, showing how Council services can improve to build a better future together.

These community insights provided Council with a strong and balanced view of the community's wants and needs. It directly shaped its strategic planning and the work of the Community Panel.

Given the depth and quality of feedback received during this process, a separate public submission process will not be held for this year’s strategic plans.

This approach is in line with Council's Community Engagement Policy as required by the Local Government Act.

At the 27 May Council Meeting the draft Council Plan, draft 2025-26 Budget, draft 10 year financial plan and the draft Revenue and Rating Plan were tabled.  These have been developed in line with our newly endorsed Community Vision 2040 to help shape the future of Manningham.

Extensive community consultation informed both our strategic planning and the Community Panel’s deliberations, ensuring that our plans are grounded in our community's priorities, needs and aspirations.

This consultation included a community-wide survey last year where we heard from 1,260 community members about what matters most to you and which three areas you think Council should focus on. We also held a series of targeted conversations with key groups and residents including young people, older adults, multicultural communities and partners.

On top of that, many community members sent in their own ideas and suggestions through individual submissions, showing us how Council services can improve and how we can build a better future together.

These community insights gave us a strong and balanced view of our community's wants and needs. It directly shaped our strategic planning and the work of our Community Panel.

Given the depth and quality of feedback received during this process, a separate public submission process will not be held for this year’s strategic plans.

We thank everyone who contributed. We’re all part of the plan and your voices are shaping the future of our community.
