Let's Crochet Together offers senior residents of Manningham an enjoyable and practical crochet session, with a special focus on those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Participants will not only acquire basic crochet skills, but also have the opportunity to build new community connections. 

Refreshments will be provided, and each participant will receive a complimentary crochet kit. 

Please note: this event will be conducted in Cantonese.

This event is free of charge for older adults aged 65 and above from Manningham. Spots are limited and fill up quickly, registrations essential.

Let's Crochet Together is organised by CASS Care and supported by Manningham Council’s Community Grants Program.

We all strive to maintain our health, avoid injuries, and live independently in our homes for as long as possible. However, falls remain one of the leading causes of injury and fatality among older adults, with approximately half of these incidents occurring in or around the home.

To address this important issue, Manningham Council, in collaboration with Access Health and Community, are offering a free, one-hour information session.

This session will cover:

  • why older adults are at risk of falls
  • how to reduce the risk of falls
  • how to stay active and independent for longer
  • where to find help to reduce or manage falls.

This information session is part of our commitment to working towards becoming an Age Friendly City.

Shuttle Smash is an introductory program for children to experience badminton in a fun, inclusive environment. 

The program teaches children badminton through the development of fundamental movement skills, including co-ordination, flexibility, strength, balance and fine motor skills.

  • this activity is for primary school children aged 5 - 12.

Terms and conditions

  • Participants must be Manningham residents to qualify for the subsidised rate of $5

Becoming an Australian citizen represents a commitment to Australia and its people.

All applications for Australian citizenship are processed by the Department of Home Affairs. Further information on how to apply for Australian Citizenship is available from the Australian citizenship website or the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

For most people, the final step in becoming an Australian citizen is making the pledge of commitment at an Australian Citizenship Ceremony. Applicants for Australian Citizenship will generally be invited to attend a ceremony within 3 to 6 months from the date their application is approved. You will receive a written invitation to your ceremony from the Department of Home Affairs.

While Manningham hosts Australian Citizenship Ceremonies, the Council is unable to provide further information regarding the timing of your ceremony.

Community organisations in Manningham are invited to attend this free grant writing workshop.

This session will help grant writers to improve their success rate in grant applications.

It will cover:

  • why communicating the value of your project is a good starting point
  • understanding funding outcomes and how the project will align with these
  • being able to define the project and the benefit it will have for the community
  • knowing what is great about your organisation and the reason a community group or non-profit can deliver this project
  • understanding grant eligibility criteria
  • formulating the project plan and the resources required
  • preparing the budget

It is suitable for those who want to apply for our Community Grants Program and have projects under $20,000 with simple specifications.

Non Profit Training will deliver the workshop.

This free 5-session program is designed specifically for women aged 60 plus (living in Manningham) who are ready to embrace the next chapter of their lives with confidence, clarity, and purpose. Our aim is to empower participants to connect with true self, strengthen bonds within the local Manningham community and cultivate a deeper sense of belonging and fulfillment.

We are currently taking expressions of interest and invite eligible participants to apply.
