Everyone has the capacity for creative expression and enjoyment. 

Heide’s Creative Age Programs are designed specifically for people living with early stage dementia and their Carers to discover their creativity through the non-verbal avenue of art, and to promote health and wellbeing. Heide’s Creative Age programs are kindly supported by the Phil Taylor Foundation.

The sessions run from 1:30pm each Thursday until 3 April 2025.

Transport option are as follows:

Public Transport
Train (Hurstbridge line) to Heidelberg station and bus #903 (Mordialloc bound) to Heide. Disembark at the Bulleen Road/Manningham Road stop. Estimated bus travel time is 5-10 minutes. Walk to Heide through Banksia Park, via the pedestrian path next to the Helmet sculpture on the corner of Bridge Street or by walking North on Bulleen Road and entering via the upper car park.

Bicycle
Heide is located next to Banksia Park near the Main Yarra Trail. From Southbank, this 33km bike trail passes ancient gums and billabongs before ending at Westerfolds Park in Templestowe. With a flat grade and good quality track, this trail makes for an enjoyable experience and a truly ‘green’ way to travel to Heide.

Free parking available on-site and additional parking available in adjoining Banksia Park (enter via 5 Templestowe Road)

Bus / coach parking
The parking at Heide is not suitable for buses so we advise bus and coach drivers to park in the bays on Templestowe Road, immediately preceding the entrance to the museum at 7 Templestowe Road (alongside picket fence).

Join us at Currawong Bush Park to learn about local wildlife and come face to face with local animals of Manningham.

Recommended for children aged 5 to 12 years, the Manningham Junior Ranger Program is designed to get young environmentalists out and active in our local environment.

Activities include:

• Go on a bush park discovery walk with Environment Officers as they explore why Currawong Bush Park is known as the best little wilderness in town
• Survive a live wildlife show presented by Reptile Encounters
• Experience nature as a place to play, imagine, relax and explore.

Participant information:

• Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to start time.
• Come prepared and dress for the weather on the day. Please wear closed-toed footwear.
• Don’t forget to bring a snack and water bottle for morning tea.
• In the event of extreme weather, this event will be cancelled.
• Currawong Bush Park is protected habitat, dogs are not permitted in the park at any time.

Join us for a magical evening of moth watching at Currawong Bush Park! 

Bring your flashlight and a sense of wonder as we discover the diverse and colorful moths that call the park home. This is a great opportunity to learn from experts and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts. 

We will also go on a spider walk and talk, so don't miss out on this unique event!

This event is hosted by Manningham Council and the Entomological Society of Victoria. 

Learn to ride a bike during this 5-week introductory riding program for women, female-identifying and non-binary riders who are aged 18 years and over.

The program focuses on:

• skill development
• developing fitness
• helping you make riding a bike part of your everyday life.

Follow the lead of accredited AusCycling instructors and increase your bike confidence and skills in a supportive, safe, off-road and friendly environment.

Who is it for? This program is suitable for people who don't know how to ride, and for people with some basic riding experience. If you don’t have a bike or helmet, we'll hire these for you. Just make sure you let your instructor know upon your arrival at the first session.

Where to meet: At the car park area to the left of the Mullum Mullum Stadium entrance.

What to bring: Your bike and helmet if you have them, and a water bottle.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.

Warrandyte Community Church, in conjunction with the local churches of Warrandyte, presents the Warrandyte Community Carols.

Come and enjoy the festive atmosphere at Stiggants Reserve. Celebrate Christmas by singing carols, mingling with friends and enjoying the positive ambience.

Local singers and musicians will perform for the wellbeing of local residents.

Bring a picnic or buy food and drinks from the food trucks on site.

Santa will visit with a lolly toss for children, supported by the local CFA.

Join staff from Aquarena for a fitness session using the body weight equipment at the Lake Circuit Path Exercise Station at Ruffey Lake Park.

Sessions run for 45 minutes and are suitable for people of all genders aged 18 years and over.

No experience needed and all fitness levels welcome.

Do you want to learn to skate but don’t know where to start?

Come along to an All Aboard skateboarding session to learn skate skill basics and build confidence in a fun and inclusive environment! 

What you'll learn

You’ll learn about skate skill development, injury prevention, skate park etiquette, equipment maintenance and lots more.

Workshops are led by experienced instructors focusing on building skills in a fun and social environment.

Who can attend

All Aboard skate sessions are open to school-aged children and young people of all genders and abilities. No prior experience is needed.

Come to as many or as few workshops as you like. 

What to bring

Nothing! Skateboards, helmets and padding are all provided. If you have your own equipment and prefer to use that, you can bring it along.

Registrations are required.

These workshops are made possible thanks to Victorian Skateboard Association, and a Manningham Community Partnership Grant.

Join us, with your children (from newborn and upwards), to dance and have fun with residents.  

Be a part of the singalong with songs from The Wiggles to Elvis!

A musical playgroup for the young and young at heart to sing, dance and make music together.

Percussion instruments will be provided.

Some parking is available on site, with off street parking also in the area.
