Our MCH Centres
New exhibition now on at Manningham Art Gallery. ...
An exhibition exploring works by several exceptional emerging artists, whose practices examine our natural environment from an aerial perspective, homing in on materials and subjects often overlooked.
These artists push, capture, map and rework the everyday. Through this process, pieces of refinement and polished simplicity form, like Rhys Cousins’ Plank and Brick. Or waste materials transform into rough jewel like sculptures as seen across Anni Hagberg’s works.
A highlight of the exhibition is Wurundjeri Artist Ash Firebrace’s Possum Skin Cloak he produced in collaboration with his sister Michelle Mills.
Interwoven throughout our space, are ceramic pieces from the Manningham Art Collection. A revisiting of works old and new.

UPDATED: This is event is sold out.
Come and celebrate the extraordinary women who live with disability and advocate for gender and disability equality.
This year we are partnering with Women's Health East to bring you Grit - a celebration of women.
Women's Health East developed the Margins to Mainstream program late in 2020, and since then have been working to empower women with disability.
Join us to hear from women who have found their voice and learn about what they need to be a part of the community.
This event is part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and International Day of People with Disability.
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December Human Rights Day.
International Day of People with Disability is on 3 December and is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

Improving drainage and flood mitigation
We’re undertaking drainage works and upgrades across Manningham to reduce flood risk.
We prioritise drainage works by considering:
- knowledge of local flooding and relative impacts compared with other locations
- the scale of the required works
- asset condition records and maintenance history
- community feedback
- the timing of other proposed works, including roadworks.
Project timeframes may be impacted by various factors like major road projects or large-scale developments across Manningham.
Find out about the latest drainage projects in Manningham.
Flood and stormwater management
We’ve partnered with Melbourne Water to undertake flood mapping for Manningham, to better understand flood risk.
This work will assist flood management by:
- improving understanding of the frequency, severity and location of flood risks within catchments
- assisting Council to better plan and prioritise mitigation activities
- helping to plan for future development
- building community awareness of flood risk
- informing emergency management planning.
The Manningham Flood Mapping Project will also inform the development of Manningham Council’s Integrated Water Management Strategy.
This strategy will review flooding and stormwater management risks and respond to emerging challenges, including:
- population growth
- development pressure
- climate change and associated increasing flood and drought risk.
A new Stormwater Management Strategy for Manningham
We’re developing a Stormwater Management Strategy to help identify, manage and reduce flood risk to people, property, infrastructure and the environment.
The Strategy will guide our planning and investment in the long-term Capital Works Program to support a healthy, safe and resilient community.

Since declaring a Climate Emergency in 2020, we’ve been working hard to reach our zero emission targets for Council by 2028 and the community by 2035.
Now, we’re proud to release an implementation update on our Climate Emergency Response Plan, which details the progress we’ve made, what’s next and how you can get involved.
Our big wins
From electrifying our facilities to decreasing landfill waste, we’ve accelerated our climate action in the past four years.
In turn, we’re enhancing the liveability of Manningham and promoting community health and wellbeing. We’re also boosting the resilience of our natural and built environments, as well as the local economy.
We’re proud to have:
- reduced landfill waste by more than 50 per cent since introducing Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) bins
- converted all Council-owned facilities and street lighting to 100 per cent renewable energy from regional Victorian wind farms
- begun transitioning our vehicles and plant equipment to be fully electric
- planted more than 2,000 advanced trees and over 15,000 shrubs and grasses each year in our parks, reserves and bushland areas.
How you can help
Climate action is something everyone can do at home, work, school – or in your community.
Whether it’s electrifying your home, growing your own food, joining a community group or attending one of our Inspired Living Series events, there’s something for everyone.
Need more ideas?
Download our Climate Emergency Response Plan - Implementation Update below for more ways to act on climate in Manningham.
Next steps for Council
We have 10 years to reduce emissions to net zero. This ambitious goal will require a collective effort to secure a safer, healthier climate for our generation – and every one after.
To realise our net zero target by 2035, we’re implementing changes across the following themes:
- energy transition
- sustainable transport
- climate resilient communities
- natural systems
- sustainable water
- circular economy
You can see a detailed breakdown of what this looks like in our Climate Emergency Response Plan - Implementation Update.
As our weather and climate becomes more unpredictable and extreme, our homes can be vulnerable. It's important to keep our home and contents insurance policies up-to-date and relevant.
In July and August, we are holding home insurance workshop with Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC), a multidisciplinary legal service that works to prevent problems and support community resilience.
The workshops will cover important topics including:
- whether your insurance covers the emergencies that may happen to you
- common exclusions
- potential legal issues after a disaster, and how to prevent or prepare for those.
