Tikalara Park is located where the Mullum Mullum Creek and the Yarra River join. It forms part of the Yarra Valley Parklands on Crown Land managed by Parks Victoria (which supports the Mullum Mullum/Main Yarra Trail) and Manningham freehold land parcels.
Generally Tikalara can be defined as the area north of Websters Road and between Mullum Mullum Creek/Yarra River to the west and Blackburn Road to the east.
The reserve provides flora and fauna, informal recreation, linear park and unstructured nature play.
Fire safety at Tikalara Park
All Manningham reserves are closed on days of total fire ban, or higher extreme or catastrophic Fire Danger Rating. Visiting a reserve on these days places you at risk and potentially in danger.
To check the current Fire Danger Rating or find out if it’s a total fire ban day, go to the CFA website.

Please let us know if you notice anything unsafe, like a broken tree branch or damaged playground.
What we do to reduce fire risk at Tikalara Park
Finer fuels such as leaf litter, tree branches and twigs raise the level of risk within reserves. Large fallen trees require a much higher level of heat to burn and provide habitats for native wildlife.
Here are some actions we take throughout the year to reduce the fire risk at this reserve:
create and maintain fuel breaks within the reserve
maintain grass heights with slashing, brush cutting and tractors year round
remove fine fuels such as loose and fallen branches
annual inspection and maintenance of Fire Access Tracks, to ensure emergency service vehicles can access the reserve
inspect access points, gates and locks
We manage 20 per cent of the land in Manningham, but the other 66 per cent is privately owned. Visit the CFA website for information on how to prepare your private property for fire.

These exhibits will form part of Craft Contemporary 2023, an annual festival delivered by Craft Victoria – the largest celebration of craft and design in Victoria. The festival brings together practitioners, educators, industry, and craft lovers to explore material practice as it is today.
Both artists feature current applications of materials and techniques and demonstrate how craft as a medium can investigates new ideas in engaging ways.
Using waste produced by the fashion industry, Carol creates wearable and functional sculptures that highlights the procrastinator as the protagonist.
Carol’s work demonstrates the feelings and activities of procrastination visually in a humorous way, while exploring the emotional state of procrastination.
Visit Are you Procrastinating? in the foyer of the Manningham Civic Centre building from Monday 2 October to Friday 3 November 2023.
The Soil Clay Project is an ongoing exploration of the artist’s jewellery designs through her experience living and studying in China, Australia and Sweden.
Vivian uses her observational insights and collection of natural materials and common objects to mould into wearable artworks. She incorporates soil, fallen leaves and flowers, grass and rice to act as a binding agent for her work.
She establishes a connection between the wearer to place, time, and culture through materials and the ancient symbolism of oracle bone script.
Artworks from Vivian’s residency in Sweden will be on display.
Visit Soil Clay at MC Square Community Centre (ground floor) from Monday 2 October to Sunday 5 November 2023.

We identify and prioritise the routes and stops that commuters use most.
We consider community feedback, commuter demand and nearby services and facilities to identify locations where new shelters or upgrades are needed.
Works to build new shelters are prioritised by:
commuter demand and historical requests
the type of road the bus stop is located on
the bus stop’s location relative to various facilities within the community.
On average, we aim to build between three and five, new or upgraded shelters every year.
The timing for new shelter projects may be influenced by factors like big road projects or large developments in Manningham.
