Summer Celebration is coming to D'Oro restaurant at Templestowe Village throughout February.

We are showcasing our incredible local Manningham artists with our local businesses throughout Summer.

Talented local artist Hannah April will be at D'oro creating soulful summer memories. Hannah's guitar and vocals float through the air and add a little bit of magic to times spent eating, drinking and supporting local businesses.

Local artists. Local businesses. Live performances. All summer long across Manningham. 

Explore a stunning reach of the Yarra River enjoying spectacular views as we rock hop over the escarpment and then along the gentler banks. Here we will see the results of more than 25 years of wildlife habitat rehabilitation.

The walk is 4.5km over 3 hours. Parts of the trail are not on a flat walking track and involve good balance and rock hopping. Please consider your ability to complete the walk, being mindful the group will need to keep a steady pace to complete it in the allocated time.

Wear solid walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing, a hat and sunscreen.

Participants must provide a mobile number.

Please note: This walk starts and finishes at different locations, so will involve a car shuttle with fellow walkers.

Location will be given upon registration.

This event is part our Manningham Spring Outdoors Series, where we offer a range of fun outdoor activities across Manningham.

Attendees will have the chance to engage with experts in various related fields, learn about available resources, and discover new ways to navigate the challenges associated with disability and health-related concerns.

Are you interested in connecting with others to talk about climate safety and climate action?

Reducing our climate impact and preparing for extreme weather caused by climate change is easier than you think! 

Drop in for a free cuppa at your local cafe and chat with CFA, SES and Council about topics like:

• ways to take climate action in our local communities
• how to build environmentally-friendly practices into our everyday lives
• how to be prepared for severe weather like floods, storms and bushfires.

People of all age and abilities are welcome. There will be great resources to take home, including information for people with disability and additional needs.

This session is being run in partnership with Nillumbik Council.

We all strive to maintain our health, avoid injuries, and live independently in our homes for as long as possible. However, falls remain one of the leading causes of injury and fatality among older adults, with approximately half of these incidents occurring in or around the home.

To address this important issue, Manningham Council, in collaboration with Access Health and Community, are offering a free, one-hour information session.

This session will cover:

• why older adults are at risk of falls
• how to reduce the risk of falls
• how to stay active and independent for longer
• where to find help to reduce or manage falls.

This information session is part of our commitment to working towards becoming an Age Friendly City.

The 2025 Manningham Asian Cultural Festival will feature a fantastic lineup of cultural performances, delicious street food and family friendly activities.

A celebration of culture and community, the event will finish with a fireworks display.

We encourage you to leave your pets at home so they don’t get frightened by the fireworks. If you live in nearby streets, secure your family pets in a safe, comfortable location or consider bringing them into your house during the display. 

The festival is brought to you by the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse (ABAW), organisers of the popular Lunar New Year Festival in Box Hill.

The Unfinished Business exhibition reveals the stories of 30 First Nations people with disability.

Their deeply personal stories are complex and intertwined with Australia’s political and social history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations communities. This was a collaborative project between participants and Artist and Social Documentarian, Belinda Mason Knierim OAM.

Australia’s population is steadily increasing, prompting the need for new houses, shops and roads. While these developments are important for our community, they may have a negative impact on our local birds. 

So, how do birds respond to urban development? Why do some species cope better than others? And what can we do to better support the more sensitive species? 

To answer these questions, we’ve invited Dr Jacinta Humphrey to share her findings on what makes a residential street, urban park or private garden bird-friendly.

Speaker bio:

Dr Jacinta Humphrey (she/her) is an Urban Ecologist and Research Fellow with the ICON Science group at RMIT University. She completed her PhD at La Trobe University and continues to work with the Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary. 

Her work explores Biodiversity Sensitive Urban Design (BSUD) and aims to find opportunities to enhance habitat for wildlife in residential streets, urban parks, schoolyards and private gardens. She also monitors the Birrarung Trial Floating Wetlands, a series of artificial habitat islands installed in the Yarra River (Birrarung), on behalf of The University of Melbourne.

Matthew Dunne is an artist and writer living and working in Melbourne, Australia.

The Killing Sink is a response to the deliberate killing of Wedge-Tailed Eagles in Victoria. Using the trial of Murray James Silvester, who pleaded guilty to killing over 400 eagles, as a starting point, the project traces the history of the practice, the animals killed and the geography of the crimes.

The Killing Sink acts as both a public celebration of eagles and a eulogy for what’s been taken, focusing on how we relate to the nature around us. Part true crime and part psychogeography, The Killing Sink asks what has been lost and how far have we really come?
