Changes to the immunisation booking system.

Bookings are via Vitavo.

Contact us if you have any questions about your booking.

We provide immunisation for babies, children and adults to keep our community safe and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

Free vaccinations we offer

As part of the NIP we offer free vaccinations to:

  • Children 0 to 5 years
  • Secondary school students (years 7 and 10)
  • Catch-up vaccinations for anyone aged 0 to 19 years
  • Whooping cough (Boostrix) vaccine for pregnant women
  • Pneumococcal for adults over 65 years of age
  • Influenza for pregnant women, children under 5 years old and adults over 65 years of age.

 

Paid vaccinations we offer

We offer the following paid vaccinations:

  • Meningococcal B (MenB)
  • Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY)
  • Chickenpox (Varicella)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (Boostrix)
  • Influenza (seasonal) for those between 5 and 65 years of age.

 

Vaccinations we don't offer

Please see your local GP to receive the following vaccinations:

  • Travel vaccinations
  • Shingles
  • BCG – Tuberculosis
  • COVID-19.

 

When to get immunised

The National Immunisation Program (NIP) lists vaccinations a person should receive from birth to adulthood.

Visit the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Sharing Knowledge about Immunisation (SKAI) to understand what vaccinations you should receive and when.

 

Get the flu vaccine

The influenza vaccination is free for:

  • pregnant women
  • children under 5 years of age
  • adults over 65 years of age
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders aged 6 months or older
  • people aged 6 months or older with medical conditions putting them at increased risk of severe influenza and its complications.

If you are not eligible for a free flu shot, you can purchase the vaccine from us.

 

School immunisation sessions

We visit secondary schools in our municipality to deliver free vaccinations to students in year 7 and 10, under the NIP schedule.

Do you need support to help your newborn baby learn to sleep? Come along to one of our free information sessions.

Through the Maternal and Child Health Sleep and Settling initiative, we are providing support for parents experiencing sleep and settling concerns with their young children.

During this in-person session, consultants will teach you an evidence-informed sleep and settling model of care.

Topics covered will include:

  • Age specific development
  • Normal sleep patterns
  • Ways to deal with sleep difficulties
  • Information about your wellbeing.

There will be time at the end of the session for you to ask questions about your specific situation.

In addition to the sessions, we are proud to provide an outreach service for interested parents. Speak to our Sleep and Settling Specialist at the end of the session for more information.

Only parents who attend Manningham Maternal and Child Health service are eligible for this service.

Sessions are also available for older babies and toddlers.

A judgment-free space to learn how to better support LGBTQIA+ youth in your life.

An Allies session aimed at parents, carers, families, teachers and others to build their understanding of LGBTQIA+ youth experiences. The session will give participants the opportunity to ask questions, without judgement, and show them ways to be a better ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.

 

This session will be facilitated by Dr Tina Dixson (she/her) and Kochava Lilit (they/them) from Women’s Health East.

 

About the session

Topics covered include:

  • building belonging, practical allyship for thriving LGBTQIA+ youth 
  • information for carers, parents, grandparents, family, teachers and other allies in the community 
  • increasing knowledge of sexual, gender, and bodily diversity and equipping participants with strategies to support LGBTQIA+ youth to flourish socially, emotionally, and personally 
  • how to have conversations about topics like gender, sexuality and consent in a respectful and affirming way, and how to speak up for and with LGBTQIA+ young people as effective allies 
  • practical advice, with a focus on listening to and understanding LGBTQIA+ young people and forming stronger community connections 
  • practical tools to foster belonging and build stronger connections with LGBTQIA+ youth, recognising their diversity.

 

About the facilitators

Dr Tina Dixson (she/her) is a queer Ukrainian feminist, academic, and social policy professional who sought asylum in Australia with her partner, Dr Renee Dixson. She has worked across LGBTIQA+ equality, refugee protection, and gender-based violence. Tina completed her PhD at the Australian National University, exploring the lived experiences of queer and trans refugee women. She co-founded the Forcibly Displaced People Network, Australia’s only national LGBTIQA+ refugee-led organisation.

 

Kochava Lilit (they/them) is a queer Disabled advocate and educator who has worked in queer, trans, and youth peer support and advocacy spaces. Kochava is the project coordinator for Get the Go-Ahead at Women’s Health East, an affirmative consent education project codesigned by a group of disabled Young Experts. Get the Go-Ahead includes resources on discussing consent, relationships, and sexuality with young people and shares experiences from LGBTQIA+ Disabled young people.

Our first annual 3km and 6km walk/run will be held on Sunday 13 April, starting at 8:30am.

The course follows the scenic Lake Circuit at Ruffey Lake Park, beginning from the Boulevarde Playground side.

Join us for a morning of fun, fitness, and making a difference in your own backyard.

This is a family event, the whole family is welcome:

  • all children must be supervised by an adult guardian
  • children under the age of five years do not need to pay a registration fee for the event
  • prams are permitted, for safety reasons please ensure you start at the back of the run

Manningham Council and Manningham Youth Services have partnered with a volunteer mechanic to offer free 20-minute bike checks for young people aged 12 to 25 years.

What the 20 minute check includes:

  • overall check with special attention to brakes, tyres, chain and wheels
  • minor adjustments, tyres pumped and chain oiled as required
  •  Mechanic will provide any recommendations for  additional work if required.

What to bring? 

  • your own bike that needs a check up

Manningham Youth Services will be present at all sessions, offering snacks to keep you fueled and available to chat about who they are and how they support young people across Manningham.

It is recommended if you are under 16 years old to bring a parent or guardian with you.

The Infant Feeding, Active play and Nutrition (INFANT) program provides parents with evidence-based skills and information about healthy eating and active play for their babies.

INFANT is an evidence-based initiative led by our local Maternal Child Health (MCH) Nurses.

Sessions cover topics including:

  • feeding, solids introduction, healthy eating, food refusal and fussy eating
  • strategies and ideas on how to play with your baby
  • the role that parent wellbeing plays in your baby’s life
  • experiences, strategies and tips from other parents. 

Cost: Free

Who should attend: Parents and caregivers

Please note: This is the 12 months session - for babies aged from 11 to 13 months.

We offer interactive sessions in four different age groups:

  • 3 months (babies aged from 2 to 4 months)
  • 6 months (babies aged from 5 to 7 months)

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg

Dr Carr-Gregg is a distinguished Australian psychologist, author, and broadcaster, renowned for his expertise in adolescent and family psychology. He has authored 18 books on topics including parenting, mental health, and adolescent wellbeing, including Grandparents and the Grandparenting Code. His 19th book is currently in progress. 

In 1985, Dr Carr-Gregg co-founded CanTeen, the world's first national support group for teenage cancer patients, alongside a group of young cancer patients. He has held significant roles in academia and research, including serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne. In 2018, he led the enquiry for the NSW Government that led to the nationwide ban on mobile phones in state and territory schools.

Come and celebrate the extraordinary women who live with disability and advocate for gender and disability equality.

This year we are partnering with Women's Health East to bring you Grit - a celebration of women. 

Women's Health East developed the Margins to Mainstream program late in 2020, and since then have been working to empower women with disability. 

Join us to hear from women who have found their voice and learn about what they need to be a part of the community.  

This event contains discussion of family violence that may lead to a risk of emotional harm. This content has been included to educate on the impacts of family violence.

This event is part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and International Day of People with Disability. 

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December Human Rights Day.

International Day of People with Disability is on 3 December and is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
