Manningham Council is inviting community feedback as it develops a new masterplan for Timber Reserve in Doncaster.

Manningham Mayor Cr Deirdre Diamante, who is the Councillor for Tullamore Ward, encouraged residents and reserve visitors to get involved.

“We want to hear how you use Timber Reserve and your ideas for how we can make it even better,” Cr Diamante said.

“The 4.6ha reserve is a much-loved space for formal and informal sport and recreation including soccer, cricket, walking, jogging, and dog exercise. It also features two playgrounds for children to enjoy.

“Your feedback will help us create a master plan that supports sport and recreation for all members of our community for many years to come,” Cr Diamante said.

The Timber Reserve masterplan will assess the current sporting infrastructure, explore how the area is used, and identify opportunities for future improvements.

Community members are invited to complete a survey at Your Say Manningham.

The consultation is separate to that by Victoria’s Big Build on behalf of Yarra Valley Water regarding a pressure reducing station at the reserve as part of the North East Link Project.

Council Officers will be available to answer questions a drop-in “Have your say” session at the Timber Reserve sportsground on Thursday 16 October, 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

Consultation continues to 11.59pm on Sunday 26 October 2025.

UPDATE: This event has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

By switching to induction cooking, you can create a safer home for your family.

Curious about switching to induction cooking? Keen to reduce food waste in your kitchen? Join us for a hands-on cooking workshop, followed by a community meal hosted by Ajani Neighbourhood House.

Our facilitator from Open Table will provide an educational and interactive cooking experience, focusing on innovative yet simple ways to reduce our household food waste. You'll learn more about the benefits of induction cooking and how Solar Savers can make it easy to switch.

Be inspired to get creative with vegetable scraps, odds and ends and excess seasonal produce!

Workshop content:

  • Induction cooking - how it works, cookware, how to switch
  • Food waste impacts
  • Interactive cooking demonstration and tasting - Veggie Scrap Fritters
  • Hands on activity  - Pantry Clear Out Bliss Balls

The workshop will be followed by a 2-course lunch, including food prepared during the hands on activity.

About Open Table

Open Table is a Melbourne based charity with the dual purpose of increasing food security and reducing food waste. They share good food that would otherwise go to waste through regular free community lunches and food relief programs.

Please note:

Registrations are essential and places are limited.

  • This workshop is funded by Manningham Council and hosted in partnership with Ajani Neighbourhood House. The event admission fee paid to Ajani covers the cost of the venue, lunch, tea and coffee.
  • This event is aimed at adults and is not suitable for children.
  • Food tasting is involved - you will be required to detail any allergies when registering.
  • Please wear close-toed shoes to the event.

Power up a cleaner future

This event is part of our Electrify Your Life program, which supports residents to go all-electric at home, creating a brighter Manningham. Learn how to make the switch at Electrify Your Life.

Find childcare services
… View a list of local childcare centres and get tips on what to look for Kids and Family … Find childcare services …

We recommend families visit a range of childcare services to choose the most suitable one for your child’s needs.

Here are some questions to ask yourself when choosing a childcare service:

  • How many hours of care do you need? (e.g. whole day, mornings, afternoons, few hours a week, occasionally etc.)
  • Do you want your child cared for in a home environment or in a centre?
  • What kind of qualifications and experiences do staff members have?
  • Does the centre offer a Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) funded pre-school program?
  • What learning and play opportunities do you want your child to have?
  • What kind of routine will your child have?
  • Do you want the centre to provide lunch? Can you look at a sample meal plan?
  • Does the centre provide nappies?
  • What is the carer-to-child ratio?

Contact us for more information on childcare in Manningham.
