Manningham Community Fund is a charitable fund account of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. The fund is a separate legal entity from the City of Manningham.
The Fund has been established to raise much-needed funds to help community organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR)* status support the needs of people living in Manningham. It does this by encouraging tax-deductible donations, gifts and bequests that build up the fund corpus in perpetuity. Each year the fund earns income (in the form of interest) which can then be available to the community in the form of grants.

Apply to the Manningham Community Fund
The Manningham Community Fund supports and distributes funds to community organisations in Manningham. It operates under the umbrella of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, which has been supporting charities across the Melbourne metropolitan area since 1923.
The Manningham Community Fund will accept applications for grants up to the maximum value of $10,000. There's no minimum amount you can apply for.
Activities must be based in the City of Manningham.
Funding is available annually to community organisations that have:
Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status as covered by Item 1 in the section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997
Endorsed as a Taxation Concession Charity (TCC)

Not for profit organisations with DGR (1) status that deliver activities to benefit the Manningham community will be invited to apply.

Spring Outdoors Program
Come along to one of the many Spring Outdoors events. In collaboration with Nillumbik and Banyule Councils, we offer over 50 programs each year, including sessions on local frog and bird species.
Join the Doncaster Hill Community Food Garden. Help local volunteers grow fresh produce, most of which is donated to local charities and community food banks.

Inspired Living Series
Come along to the Inspired Living Series. A range of sustainable activities and events for all ages, including keynote speaker events featuring a diverse line-up of local and international subject matter experts.
Get free advice about energy saving and solar installation services via the Solar Savers Program. You can register for a free solar and/or battery quote and get access to state and local government rebates and subsidies. We also run regular Solar Savers information sessions.
Observe and document Manningham's natural environment as part of the iNaturalist - City Nature Challenge. During a four day observation period, residents are invited to find, photograph and document the native wildlife that lives and grows in our neighbourhoods.
Sign up for the Aussie Backyard Bird Count, run each October by Birdlife Australia. You can join in on the fun and contribute with any birds you spot in Manningham by visiting Birdlife Australia.
Melbourne Water Frog Census
Get involved in local citizen science by recording frog species in Manningham with the Melbourne Water Frog Census App. An easy to use app to record audio and identify frog species by their call in local waterways, parks, and on your own property.
Join Waterwatch and get involved in exploring and protecting our local waterways. Volunteers collect water quality data that contributes to scientific research, management planning and on ground actions that improve the health of our waterways.

Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning
Manningham Council is a member of the Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL). EASL provides professional development, learning and networking opportunities for early years, primary and secondary schools. Events run throughout the year, including the Learning for Sustainability Conference held in March.
Get involved in the Resource Smart Schools Program run by EASL. The program can help your school embed sustainability into everything you do, including ways to promote biodiversity, minimise waste, save energy and water, and take action on climate change.
Environmental Leadership Program for Schools
Bring your students along for a day of discovery and education at Currawong Bush Park. In term two of each school year, we invite all Manningham schools to participate in our Sustainability and Environmental Education Program. The program is run by staff from the Manningham Environment team and is free of charge, including bus transport to and from your school.
The Lead to Sustain Conference offers young people in our community the opportunity to learn how to lead the implementation of sustainable actions for the benefit of our local community. The conference includes activities dedicated to supporting biodiversity and ecology, saving water, reducing waste, recycling and reducing energy consumption.

Community organisations wanting to erect a community event sign on land we own or manage, must complete an application form and pay a fee.
The requirements for putting up a sign
After receiving approval from us, the following rules apply:
no more than 1 sign can be up at any time on a designated site
a sign can be up for a maximum period of 6 weeks
you can’t display a sign for longer than 14 days after the end of the event.
For sponsorship advertising, the following rules apply:
the sign can’t exceed 20 percent of the area of the sign
sponsorship advertising can’t exceed 1 square metre for a sign 5 square metres in size.
Advertising on signs should clearly identify:
the sponsor’s name
address
logo, if appropriate, across the bottom of the sign.

There are 10 sites available for the display of community event signage. Unless an applicant is a tenant on a reserve and is requesting a community event sign for that reserve. The sites are:

The Community Development Grant is a category of the Community Grant Program. The grant allows not-for-profit groups and organisations to achieve short to medium term community development outcomes.
What the grant hopes to achieve
The aim of the grant is to:
respond to a community need with a focus on vulnerable individuals and groups
be inclusive and allow all member of the community to participate, including targeted responses that helps vulnerable individuals and groups to participate in local activities and opportunities
foster an inclusive and harmonious community, drawing strength from difference and diversity
enhance the health and wellbeing of the community
support a safer and more resilient community
encourage collaboration between ourselves, groups and organisations for the benefit of the community
enhance community outcomes through organisational change or development such as capacity building and research.
When does the funding round begin
Grant currently closed. Next round opens in February 2025.
How much funding is available for the grant
Funding is between $3,001 and $20,000. Allocations are for 1 financial year and isn’t recurring.
The estimated allocation for the community development grant category is $110,000 per annum.

Serpell Community Reserve provides tennis, cricket and football facilities with a large oval, tennis courts and pavilion in an attractive treed setting.
The Reserve is well linked to three local streets, with an established path network, and has an open feel where a stand of pine trees marks the boundary from one of two adjacent primary schools.
Serpell Primary School has exclusive access to the car park (to the north of Burleigh Drive) and the ovals, including the walking track, at Serpell Community Reserve between 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday. This excludes public holidays and school holidays.
You are welcome to use the facilities at Serpell Community Reserve when it is not allocated to the school or a sporting club.

Common themes that were explored included the river, the natural environment and the experience of walking along and looking across the river to the other side.
The design captures these themes whilst incorporating bright colours that will sit within, and complement the surrounding environment.

These community-based agencies and organisations provide emergency relief and material aid such as food hampers, vouchers and pantries to people in financial crisis living in Manningham as part of the Food Relief Network.
