International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s achievements and raises awareness for women’s equality.

Thirty years ago, the world committed to a bold vision for gender equality, the United Nations' Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Since then, we’ve seen women break barriers, reshape policies, and ignite global movements. Yet, despite these strides, the promises made remain largely unfulfilled for millions of women worldwide. We are simply not where we should be.

Our annual International Women’s Day Breakfast is being held on Thursday 6 March 2025, with keynote speaker Dr Emma Fulu, one of the world’s leading experts on ending violence against women and girls.

Do you need support to help your newborn baby learn to sleep? Come along to one of our free information sessions.

Through the Maternal and Child Health Sleep and Settling initiative, we are providing support for parents experiencing sleep and settling concerns with their young children.

During this in-person session, consultants will teach you an evidence-informed sleep and settling model of care.

Topics covered will include:

• Age specific development
• Normal sleep patterns
• Ways to deal with sleep difficulties
• Information about your wellbeing.

There will be time at the end of the session for you to ask questions about your specific situation.

In addition to the sessions, we are proud to provide an outreach service for interested parents. Speak to our Sleep and Settling Specialist at the end of the session for more information.

Only parents who attend Manningham Maternal and Child Health service are eligible for this service.

Sessions are also available for older babies and toddlers.

Come and experience the botanic beauty of the luscious gardens at Applewood at our Open Gardens event.

James Wall from Gardenworld will do a presentation on springtime planting and provide tips to keep your garden in pristine condition.

Then we will do a walking tour of the village gardens, where you can admire the peaceful backdrop and stunning landscaping in this sophisticated oasis purpose-built for over 55s.

An afternoon tea will follow in the Community Centre.

Alison Evans, from local digital marketing agency Pinpoint Local, is a specialist in Google Business Profile optimisation strategies.

In this session she will help you get what you need most - more customers, more leads and more sales with SEO strategies and a Google Business Profile.

Alison will also give you an insight into the new AI Google Search.

Help us compete with cities from across the southern hemisphere during the Great Southern Bioblitz.

You can get involved by taking photos of plants and animals or making sound recordings of wildlife using iNaturalist. The bioblitz takes place between Friday 20 September and Monday 23 September. 

Let's show the world the incredible biodiversity of Manningham. A great reason to be out and about in nature!

This program is for children aged 5 to 12 years. All genders and abilities are welcome.

No experience needed. 

Sessions will focus on building confidence, having fun and making new friends.

This program is delivered by Manningham Juventus Football Club

Carers Saturday cuppa and chat is a chance for all people who are currently caring for people with disability, illness, mental health issues and/or ageing to reconnect and find support over a free cuppa.

The session will be facilitated by Dr Nakisa Malakooti.  Dr Malakooti is a carer and a neuroscientist and has lived at Manningham for the last 27 years. She is a strong advocate for carers, disability, mental health and dementia patients.

Join us for a presentation by John Harris, Principle Ecological Consultant at Wildlife Experiences to learn more about the Local Birds of Warrandyte.
John has worked in both the environmental and educational sectors, so this presentation is sure to be engaging and interesting!

The presentation will get you prepared for the upcoming Aussie Backyard Bird Count which is run each year by Bird Life Australia and supported by Manningham. All level of bird knowledge is welcome.
