UPDATED: 11 September 2025 with edit to upgrade wording.

We’re making West Oval better, safer and easier to play on – all year round.

Better fields. More play.

The upgrade will:

  • deliver better playing conditions, with improved drainage, soil and turf
  • support both footy and cricket

West Oval will be closed from October 2025 to April 2026 while we complete these improvements.

We encourage you to explore and enjoy other parts of Wonga Park Reserve while construction is underway.

More oval upgrades coming soon

This is one of several oval upgrades across Manningham that will support sport and recreation in our community.

It’s also part of the Wonga Park Reserve Masterplan, which guides how the reserve will grow and improve over the next 15 years.

This program is now fully booked.

Explore the Yarra by Kayak with your friends!

River Rambles are relaxed, social paddling experiences designed for women and girls aged 16 and over.

These events offer a welcoming opportunity to enjoy time on the water in a safe, supportive, and friendly environment, guided by qualified Ramble Leaders.

No experience necessary. Wear something comfortable that you’re okay with getting a little damp.

This paddle will begin at Westerfolds park and continue to Sweeneys Lane where participants will then hope out of the river and be driven back to Westerfolds park.

If the weather turns chilly, Paddle Victoria has you covered, they will provide quality thermals and a spray jacket to help keep you warm. A bit of splashing, wet feet, and a damp seat are all part of the fun!

These sessions are being delivered in partnership with Manningham Council and Paddle Victoria as part of the Birrarung Riverfest 2025. Celebrate our river at one of 60+ events hosted over three weeks from 6–28 September. Article Content

While out getting your daily exercise, you may have spotted a green sign with white text in one of our beautiful parks or along a walking trail.

These are Emergency Markers and can be your gateway to help in an emergency as they save our emergency responders time trying to locate you.

Each marker has a unique code linked to Triple Zero Victoria. When you call 000, knowing the location of your nearest marker can help ESTA quickly determine your GPS coordinates and the nearest road access point and other navigational data to help emergency responders.

We recently conducted a full audit of our Emergency Markers to identify any damaged and missing markers within our parks and along our walking tracks. These have all now been replaced so emergency services can respond quickly where needed.

If you spot a damaged or illegible marker, please report this issue to us.

UPDATE: The September online drop in session has been cancelled. Join us at sessions in October or November.

By going all-electric, you can create a safer home and brighter Manningham.

That’s why Manningham Council has partnered with Solar Savers, a local government initiative that takes the hassle out of home energy upgrades. The

Council-backed program has now expanded to offer more suppliers and product choices, as well as home energy assessments for personalised advice.

Do you have questions about making your home more comfortable and efficient? Keen to install solar, batteries or efficient electric appliances? Join our monthly online session to learn more.

You can also find out about available discounts and discover how Solar Savers can help.

Join us online at any time during the one-hour session. Registration is not required.

Electrify Your Life

This event is part of our Electrify Your Life program, which supports residents to go all-electric at home, creating a brighter Manningham. Learn how to make the switch at Electrify Your Life.
