The Koonung Creek Linear Park follows the course of the Koonung Creek (and the Eastern Freeway) which forms the boundary of Manningham, Whitehorse and some of Boroondara.
The Linear Park is a significant recreation corridor offering opportunities for walking, cycling and dog walking.
The landscape character of the Linear Park offers a mix of natural settings, indigenous bushland and open parkland.
The Linear Park contains the Koonung Trail, a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians which has good connections to on-road paths, and links directly to the Main Yarra Trail and the EastLink Trail.
The Koonung Creek Linear Park is approximately 10 kilometres in length from Thompsons Road, Bulleen to Springvale Road, Donvale.
The Koonung Trail is the main commuter trail between Springvale Road and Burke Road where it joins the Main Yarra Trail.
The Koonung Trail crosses to the south side of the Eastern Freeway at Church Road, Doncaster.
West of Church Road there is the secondary bicycle route on the north side of freeway. Trail markers clearly identify the different routes.
For more information about the using Koonung trail, download the trail guide.

There’s a new place to play in Bulleen! Manningham’s newest sporting and recreation facility, Powerful Owl Park, is now open for enthusiastic local soccer players and community.
It features:
The new facility adds to our thriving network of local places where people of all ages, genders and skill levels can participate in soccer and other activities.
Participation in sports is important for a healthy, vibrant and connected community. For young people, it can provide the opportunity to develop valuable lifelong skills like resilience, teamwork, leadership and communication. Adults often find camaraderie and exercise through sport.
We negotiated a commitment from State Government to deliver this facility in response to the North East Link Program’s impact to our community facilities at Bulleen Park.
The project was delivered by the Victorian Government’s Project Delivery Agency, Development Victoria, with construction contractor 2Construct. Our Recreation and Leisure team will manage usage of the new facilities.
Powerful Owl Park is located at 27-59 Templestowe Road in Bulleen.
For North East Link construction information and updates, call 1800 105 105 or visit the Big Build website.

McLachlan Reserve is located on the corner of Porter and McLachlan Streets in close proximity to Westerfolds Park, 50 metres from the Yarra River and 25 metres from the Westerfolds Biosite.
The reserve could be important in adding to the very narrow Yarra River vegetation corridor in this location. A landscape plan should be prepared for the planting of clumps of native vegetation in the reserve and the adjacent road reserve.

Road improvements, targeted education and speed zone reviews are key priorities in Manningham’s draft Road Safety Strategy 2025-2035.
Manningham Council is seeking feedback on the draft strategy, which includes clear objectives and a detailed action plan for implementation. It aims to enhance road safety - reducing traffic-related accidents, injuries and fatalities.
Manningham Mayor, Councillor Deirdre Diamante said it will serve as a roadmap for proactive projects and programs over the next decade.
“We’re committed to improving our transport system as we strive for ‘vision zero’ – where nobody is seriously injured or killed on our roads,”
“To plan for safer roads, we needed to first understand the local issues and experiences of road users in Manningham,” said Cr Diamante.
“We received more than 200 responses to last year’s community survey, which told us what matters most to our community.
“Now we want to ensure the proposed strategy and action plan accurately reflects community priorities,” she said.
The proposed actions include:
The draft strategy was developed using local road safety data, input from road safety partners and aligns with State and Federal strategies.
Community to have their say
Have your say on the draft Road Safety Strategy 2025-2035 by completing the survey via Your Say Manningham, until 21 February 2025.
Feedback from community and Councillor consultations will inform the final version of the Road Safety Strategy. It will be presented for Council endorsement in early 2025.

The 5.7 hectare Ted Ajani Reserve provides sporting, recreational and meeting facilities for Bulleen and Lower Templestowe residents and the wider community. The reserve offers facilities for tennis, cricket, football, scouts, community groups, two community halls, and a children’s playspace, and as such is very densely developed.
Ted Ajani Reserve also plays an important role in the network of pedestrian links and safe crossing points over major roads, with links to the south via David Road to the Manningham Road pedestrian overpass, and an off-street link to the Thompsons Road pedestrian crossing. It is important to ensure that the link between David Road and Manningham Road is retained into the future.
Located on Hazel Drive, the playground is accessible to the surrounding local residents. Play opportunities include a combination unit with a track glide and slide plus swings and a see-saw. Check out the exciting balancing and rotating play equipment suited to older children.
Suitable age group: 1-14 years
The outdoor exercise equipment was installed in partnership between Council and the Victorian Government to encourage residents to get active in their local parks in Manningham. The equipment is easy to use and has been designed for adults of all ages and fitness levels. Some of it has been designed by physiotherapists to improve the health and well being of older adults to prevent falls and maintain independent living, by improving their balance, hand eye coordination and movement in the joints such as shoulders, wrist and fingers. The equipment is available everyday for community use.
