As gas prices increase and more people are looking at ways to reduce their carbon footprint, the transition to an all-electric home is both financially appealing and a sure way to take action against climate change.

This information session will help you understand:

  • economic and environmental benefits of reducing your household gas (and fuel) consumption
  • steps to creating an efficient, all-electric home that can accommodate electric vehicles in the future
  • ways to power your home with renewables, if your household is not able to have solar
  • your eligibility for the wide range of rebates

All Manningham residents who attend on the night will go into the draw to win a Virtual Home Energy Assessment worth $225!

This phone assessment will be tailored to your household, helping you to plan for a cost-effective and comfortable transition away from gas. We may contact the winner to check on progress in both reducing bills and making the home more energy efficient.

To attend this event, you must have an internet enabled PC or device and be able to download Zoom. Don’t have Zoom? Download it for free. You’ll be provided with the Zoom meeting link when you book.

This free information session is brought to you by Manningham and the Australian Energy Foundation. If you're unable to make the session, you can still learn more about how to keep your home cool while saving energy on the Australian Energy Foundation website.

This event is for Manningham residents only.

Home based business
… Running your business from home can be a perfect way to balance work and family … wanting to minimise your overheads. Manningham Business … Home based business …

Running your business from home can be a perfect way to balance work and family commitments. Or you might be just starting out and wanting to minimise your overheads.

Manningham is home to a large number of home based businesses and we actively support and encourage this business community.

A home based business is run from a residential premises or building in which the owner of the business lives.

It is important to distinguish between people who may be working from home, and those who are running a business from home. A home based business operator runs a business from home, and doesn’t work from home for an external organisation.

Is my business appropriate to run from home?

Council has certain requirements for home based businesses. These requirements help to ensure that your business won’t have a negative impact on your neighbours or the neighbourhood.

The most appropriate businesses or occupations to be conducted from the home are those where:

  • only two employees who do not live in the home but work in the occupation or business operating in the home
  • a room or space is set up for the business or occupation away from the rest of the household so that it is not affected by household noises or interruptions if you plan to meet clients at home
  • the product or service does not require large storage areas, administration or waiting areas
  • the product or service has only few deliveries and they only occur during normal business hours or daylight hours on weekends
  • the product or service does not create noise pollution or any other disturbance that can affect the local neighbourhood.

What kind of advertising signage can I have?

In all residential zones, home based businesses are permitted to have signage which displays business identification information. A total of 0.2 square metres of advertising is permitted without a planning permit.

The information which is acceptable on this sign includes:

  • business name
  • short service description
  • contact number.

For any sign not meeting these requirements, you must apply to the Statutory Planning team on 9840 9333.

Read Clause 52.05 in the Manningham Planning Scheme for the full details about signage requirements.

Progeny
… kelp, spoken word, organic movements on canvas, images of home, and oysters communicate a delicate ancestral tribute, …
This exhibition is no longer showing in the Manningham Art Gallery.

Progeny is a collection of dynamic works, spanning video, sculpture, painting, and digital media by Edwina Green. The works collectively highlight Green’s creative practice and research interests across recent years (2019-2023).

Progeny in its direct meaning is to be ‘the descendants of a person, animal or plant; offspring’ and pulls from the artists continued connectivity between ancestral lines, intergenerational discourse, and concurrence of being both ancestor and descendant.

Informed by her identity as a Trawlwoolway First Nations woman, motifs of weaving, hand harvested and sewn bags, kelp, spoken word, organic movements on canvas, images of home, and oysters communicate a delicate ancestral tribute, and the current dance in which Green is choreographing with her multidisciplinary, experimental practice.

Progeny interrogates introspection, historical association, vulnerability, and an ability to invest in the artist's practice with a sense of intentional curiosity and closeness.

Doncaster Hill Community Garden working bee

Come and join the fun at the Doncaster Hill Community Garden for our fornightly working bee. ...

Please note, the garden is closed for renovations from June to August 2025.

Come and join the fun at the Doncaster Hill Community Garden!

Every 2 weeks community members gather to lend a hand with planting, sowing seeds, weeding, watering and harvesting fresh produce.

Comprising of 24 garden beds, fruit trees and herb patches, the produce is grown and harvested communally. There are no fences, locked gates or private plots. While most of the produce gets donated to local food banks, volunteers are able to get involved in fun and interesting activities, learn about gardening and connect with others.

The garden is open to all and welcomes anyone with an interest in growing food, meeting others and learning new things.

All gardening tools are provided. Please bring a water bottle, hat and closed toe shoes.

No registration required.
