Abilities Unleashed Kids
… to local sport and active recreation opportunities. Disability Sports Australia and Manningham Council invite …

A free, fun and inclusive day connecting children with disabilities to local sport and active recreation opportunities.

Disability Sports Australia and Manningham Council invite children living with disabilities to our free Variety Abilities Unleashed Kids event.

Proudly supported by Variety Victoria - The Children's Charity and Matchworks, this multi-sport come and try day marks the initial steps in the active journey of children living with disabilities.

Each event enables and empowers participants to discover local active opportunities within a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

Participants will be split into smaller groups upon registration. After a welcome at 10.00am, they will rotate across 4 to 6 stations. These activities will consist of modified  sport and active recreation with the use of adaptive equipment to suit the participants. The stations will be facilitated by specialised coaches with the support of students and community organisations.

Registrations are required - places are expected to fill quickly, so register today!

For children and youth aged 5 to 18 years.

The Unfinished Business exhibition reveals the stories of 30 First Nations people with disability.

Their deeply personal stories are complex and intertwined with Australia’s political and social history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations communities. This was a collaborative project between participants and Artist and Social Documentarian, Belinda Mason Knierim OAM.

With thanks to Australian Museum for loaning Unfinished Business to Manningham.

Unfinished Business Documentary Free Screening
… which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations Communities. Their … Board Member Reconciliation Victoria and First Peoples Disability Network, Aboriginal Partnership Coordinator - …

Join us this NAIDOC week for a special screening of the Unfinished Business Documentary at Doncaster Library.

This moving documentary tells the stories of 30 First Nations people living with disabilities. Their deeply personal stories are complex and intertwined with Australia’s political and social history, which has resulted in today’s unacceptably high rates of disability in Australia’s First Nations Communities.

Their stories are also featured in the Unfinished Business exhibition, which is showing at Manningham Art Gallery until Saturday 29 July.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Uncle John Baxter: Latja Latja/Narungga man, Board Member Reconciliation Victoria and First Peoples Disability Network, Aboriginal Partnership Coordinator - Brotherhood of St Laurence/NDIS, participant and creative collaborator of Unfinished Business.

Attendees will also have the chance to view the exhibition at their own pace.

The Unfinished Business Documentary is a creative collaboration between brothers, Liam and Dieter Knierim, Belinda Mason Knierim OAM, and participants.

This is a free and accessible event. Bookings not required. Refreshments will be provided.

Warning: First Nations peoples should be aware that this exhibition contains images, voices, or names of deceased persons.

Access symbols - wheelchair, service dogs and audio described

If you require an Auslan interpreter to attend this event, please let us know by Friday 30 June, at 9840 9367 or gallery@manningham.vic.gov.au.

Pound Reserve
… It is unreserved Crown Land and while Council is not the Committee of Management Council does undertake basic …

Pound Reserve was the site of Council’s animal pound until the 1960s. It is unreserved Crown Land.

The northern half of the reserve supports Yellow Box with a few Black Wattles (Acacia mearnsii) and Shiny Cassinia (Cassinia longifolia). There is less diversity in the ground storey and natural regeneration is occurring. The mature Yellow Box  in the southern half of the reserve attracts a range of bird life when they flower over summer, including the annual migration from Tasmania of the endangered Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolour). Parties of Swift Parrots have stayed in the area feeding on the trees for days at a time.
