Apply to park a heavy vehicle on private residential land

Find out how apply to park a heavy vehicle on private residential land. ...

The current Local Law regulates the parking of an oversize vehicle on private residential land.

In certain circumstances a Permit may be issued to the owner or the occupier of the land to permit parking.

The purpose of the permit assessment is to ensure that the oversized vehicle does not impact on the amenity of the area, neighbouring properties, public safety or cause damage to Council assets.

Prior to approval being granted a number of considerations will be assessed.

When applying for a permit, provide as much information as possible why consideration should be given.

Can I park my truck on residential land?

Without a permit, you cannot park your vehicle on residential land if:

  • it is in excess of 4.5 tonnes, or
  • it is longer than 7.5 metres

The Manningham Community Local Law 2023 Clause 26

  • The Manningham Community Local Law 2023 Clause 26 states that the owner or occupier must not, without a permit, keep or allow to be kept, a vehicle that has a gross vehicle mass of in excess of 4.5 tonnes or together with any load or projection, measures 7.5 metres or more in length on residential land. This does not include a caravan.

Ayr St Art
… daily lives. Photo by: Nathan CCP Arts and Recreation Arts Manningham Whats On … Ayr St Art …

Join us and learn more about new public art in Doncaster and take part in an all-ages art activity.

As part of the Ayr St South shopping strip upgrade, a ground mural will be designed and installed by artist Tom Civil.

Tom will share his designs at Greythorn Bowls Club in an information session for the community, where you can meet the artist and discuss his ideas.

The information session will be followed by an all-ages art activity, where you will design your own footpath mural. Use the materials provided to work collaboratively, or own your own to create an artwork for your street.

  • Information session / meet the artist: 11.00am to 12.30pm
  • Art Activity: 1.00pm to 2.30pm

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided

About the artist

Tom Civil is an artist, muralist, community art facilitator and printmaker.

Tom has been making art in the streets of Melbourne for over 18 years, and has painted over 30 commissioned murals across town in the last ten years.

Tom's ground artworks reference through the language of mapping and symbology, our connection to nature in a heavily urbanised and concrete and asphalt covered world. The ground artworks also allow us to day-dream about how the places we live were in the past, and how they could be in the future. They also create fun interactive play moments in our daily lives.

Article Content

Join the campaign to help more local women and girls get active by hosting an event as part of Manningham Girls Can Month in November.

We’re inviting local sport clubs and community groups to run activities that inspire women and girls to try something new. It’s all about moving, having fun and feeling great!

Whether it’s a come-and-try session, social walking group, yoga in the park or a group bike ride – there are many different ways to get involved.

We’ll provide support to clubs hosting an event, including planning resources, promotional material and practical tips to get you started.

By hosting a program or event, your club can:

•    raise awareness of your organisation and programs in the community
•    attract new members and supporters
•    boost female participation across a range of ages
•    champion inclusion and show that your club celebrates all backgrounds and abilities.

The Bulleen Boomers was one of the groups to get involved last year.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for clubs to engage with the community,” Community Basketball and Programs Officer Jen Hanrahan said.

“Our event highlighted the range of progams available to women of all ages and abilities, making it a great tool for increasing participation across the board.

“Manningham Girls Can offers clubs an opportunity to be inclusive and engage women who may not otherwise participate in traditional sports,” she said.

We’ll create a guide showcasing all the events and activities happening during Manningham Girls Can Month, which will be promoted widely across the community.

Expressions of interest to be part of Manningham Girls Can are open until 11.59pm, Sunday 7 September.

Register your event

Have questions or not sure where to start? Contact our Recreation team at recreation2@manningham.vic.gov.au or call 9840 9333.

Ruffey Lake Park’s Disc Golf course provides an 18 hole recreational activity in the park.

Disc Golf is a fun recreational activity for people of all ages. The aim of the game is to throw your disc from the tee pad into the basket in the least number of throws. This course has two baskets for each tee, creating 18 unique holes to complete over two laps.

The course commences from the Church Road North picnic area.

Find out more about disc golf on the Melbourne Disc Golf website.

How to play

Safety and courtesy

  • Always give other park users the right of way
  • Never throw when other players or park users are within range
  • Respect the course – put rubbish in bins and keep the park tidy

Start

Each hole begins with a tee-off throw from the tee pad. After everyone has thrown, the player whose disc is furthest form the basket throws next.

New throw

Wherever your disc lands on the fairway is the spot where you must take your next throw towards the basket. Players may take a run up, but you must throw from behind this spot. A follow through is allowed after you release the disc.

Putting

Throws which are less than 10m from the basket requires players to stay behind the spot until the disc comes to rest.

Completion of hole

A hole is completed when your disc comes to rest in the basket catcher or chains. On top of the basket does not count.

Playing in order

When you start each new hole, the player with the lowest score on the previous hole throws first.

Out of bounds

A disc is out of bounds (OB) when it is completely surrounded by the OB area as marked on the tee sign. A one-throw penalty is added to the score and the next throw is taken from the point where the disc went OB. All throws on or over roads and foothpaths are out of bounds.

Borrowing discs

You can borrow discs from the Doncaster Library, just like a book. You can view disc availability via their online library catalogue.

You’ll need your photo ID with a current address to sign up for a library account (you do not have to live in Manningham to open a library account).

You can then borrow the discs for up to three weeks at a time and return them through the after-hours chute if the library is closed when you want to return them.

Doncaster Library: MC Square 687 Doncaster Road, Doncaster
Phone: 9877 8500

How to get there

You can park the car in Church Road North.
