Help celebrate the opening of the Doncaster Hill Community Garden’s new shed, art mural and food cubes.

The day will include an official opening of the shed by special guests Jane Edmanton (ABC Gardening Australia) and Mayor Cr Deidre Diamante at 11.00am. This will be followed by free children's gardening activities with Tiffany from Chooktopia.

Celebrate the Moon Festival 2024 in Manningham through a diverse array of cultural foods and activities. 

Come and enjoy  games, riddles, face painting, balloon modelling, lantern workshops and mooncake DIY workshops. There will also be an evening performance and lantern show. 

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Hong Kong by carrying a lantern and savoring a bite of  delicious mooncake. 

This full day community-led festival is presented by Victoria HongKongers Association and supported by Manningham Council's Community Grant Program.

Join us for a relaxing start to the day, with seated stretching, breathing, and relaxing, to loosen off tight muscles. 

If you often get out of bed feeling stiff and sore, then this is the class for you! Just bring along a chair and be wearing something comfortable.

This class is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their flexibility and feel good about themselves. It includes time to chat with Carol before and after class if you want to talk about your personal fitness goals and how Third Age Fitness can help you. 

Kelly Sports has summer entertainment covered with a jam-packed holiday program filled with sport and recreation activities. From soccer and cricket, to tag games, kids will have a blast staying active and learning new skills.

The Kelly Sports team are supportive and encouraging. Their aim is to help kids get active, develop skills, build confidence and gain a lifelong love for sports and recreation.

Manningham Council are partnering with Kelly Sports to offer a limited number of low-cost, full and half day places in their holiday program. 

Participants can select from a range of activities, times and days. Spaces are limited, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Come down and try lawn bowls with experienced coaches at Doncaster Bowls Club.

Lawn Bowls is a sport that can be played all year round.

This event is suitable for women and girls of all ages. No previous experience required.

What to wear: casual clothing and flat sole shoes.

What to bring: nothing, everything you need to participate will be provided by the club.

Where to park: parking is available at the club. Free parking is also available on J.J. Tully Drive.

Dracula comes to Manningham! 

Playhouse Players' “Dracula the Play” opens on World Dracula Day on Friday 26 May at the Doncaster Playhouse.

Local Director, Peter T Nathan is bringing to the stage Bram Stoker’s iconic work adapted by Steven Dietz. 

Dietz’s 1996 version remains faithful to Bram Stoker’s original story. It evokes the same chilling tone created by Stoker and emulates the style of language common at the end of the 19th Century.

There will be special prizes on opening night for best dressed and themed food and drink. 

Join Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder, Uncle Bill Nicholson, for a walk along Jumping Creek Reserve. 

You'll learn about traditional First Nations practices and can ask Uncle Bill questions about connecting with Country.

The Expo will feature organisations from various sectors, including: aged care, disability, new migrant services, gardening and conservation, animal welfare, hospitality, emergency and other community services.

Join wildlife ecologist John Harris as we undertake a biodiversity survey of 100 Acres Reserve. This community biodiversity survey is part of the global City Nature Challenge (CNC).

How to participate

It is free, easy, and fun to get involved.

Bring your mobile phone or digital camera to take pictures of the wild plants, animals and fungi you see, or make sound recordings of frog or bird calls.

Any observations taken over the four days, need to be uploaded to iNaturalist and included in the City Nature Challenge 2023.

To prepare for the guided walks and talks:

• install the iNaturalist app on your mobile phone and create an iNaturalist account
• make sure your phone battery is fully charged on the day
• wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring a rain/wind-proof jacket, and wear safe, fully-enclosed walking shoes to go in long grass
• bring your own drink bottle and snacks
• become a member of the Melbourne City Nature Challenge project to discover nature in our neighbourhoods

About the City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge runs from Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May 2023.

In this worldwide BioBlitz, cities compete to make the most observations of the most species by the most people.

Manningham is collaborating with over 25 local governments to form the Greater Melbourne project.

Last year Greater Melbourne came 33rd from 445 cities for the number of observations made. Hume City came fourth amongst the other local government areas.

In partnership with Manningham Council, EV invites Seniors of Manningham to enjoy a day outing to pick some summer berries and cherries at Blue Hill, Silvan.

The event is available to residents of Manningham aged 65 years and over. Included is bus transport to and from the berry farm, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Attendees can choose to purchase some of the berries at farm prices.

Show your solidarity and support of mental health and help raise awareness about the importance to talk about it, and NOT stay silent.

Raising mental health awareness is an important initiative to improve understanding and increase access to services for those who need it.

This is a free inclusive event, open to all ages.

Participants who register before 4 November will receive a free T-shirt.

Come join in the fun at the ever-popular Manningham Family Festival at Finns Reserve - presented by Rotary Manningham City.

This annual community event features kids' attractions like pony rides, a jumping castle, a merry-go-round, and a baby animal farm.

On stage, we celebrate our community’s talent with performances from over 100 local adult and children's entertainers.

There are also 50 community and craft stalls, and a wide selection of food stalls to enjoy.

This day is always fun for all the family, from babies and toddlers to bigger children, teenagers, parents, grandparents and even the dog!

Come and meditate in motion with a low-impact, mind-body exercise, which can help maintain strength, flexibility, and balance.

World Tai Chi Day is on Saturday 30 April and to celebrate, we're running a series of free outdoor Tai Chi and Qigong sessions for adults.

These two sessions will be at Mullum Mullum Reserve. They're one hour long, and facilitated by experienced instructor, Suzette Hosken, from Jade Lady Tai Chi & Qigong.

Join our local Land Restoration Guides, Alan Noy and Glenn Jameson for an interactive walk in 100 Acres Reserve, and for a summary session in the study room. Learn how to successfully tackle weeds and support local wildlife on your block. Become empowered to collectively regenerate our native bushland and help it thrive, so that you can improve the natural beauty of where you live.

This workshop is FREE and take home notes will be provided.
Wear shoes and clothing appropriate for a bush walk and the weather on the day.
Bring a water bottle and a notepad and pen.

A one-day practical seminar visiting sites around Warrandyte that have had their local native vegetation restored using a range of techniques. 

Join your land restoration guides, Alan Noy and Glenn Jameson on the land and for a short summary session in the study room.

They will take you on a local journey observing and discussing practical aspects of revegetation design, local vegetation patterns, choosing plants, maintenance, and long-term management of natural vegetation.

Visit sites where our community is attempting to reconcile the loss of biodiversity and learn how we can be part of that reconciliation process through the revegetation of the land.

Football Star Academy will be running soccer camps during the upcoming school holidays for any children interested in developing their skills, meeting new friends and having some fun over the break.

Our football training curriculum is designed by professional and qualified coaches who are dedicated to creating a skill-based learning environment with a focus on skill and player development, confidence and empowerment.
