We're currently seeking people to join our Arts, Healthy Ageing, Disability and Youth advisory committees. These committees provide a formal way for Council to seek input and guidance from the community on a variety of topics.

Expressions of interest to join our Arts, Healthy Ageing, Disability and Youth advisory committees are open until Wednesday 18 October.

Ready to dig, set, and spike your way into the world of volleyball? This beginner-friendly holiday program is the perfect place to start! 

Volleyball Labs will keep these sessions fun and welcoming while teaching you the skills and confidence to grow as a volleyball player. Whether you're totally new or just want to level up, you'll learn the fundamentals in a supportive, high-energy environment that focuses on fun, teamwork and inclusion.

Plus, if you're feeling competitive, there's a pathway to take your game to the next level — all the way to state competitions!

Cost: $30 per session or $100 for 4 sessions.

Age group: all genders aged 12 to 17 years or youth in grades 6 to 12 (high school students).

Everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or background, should feel safe, accepted and included.

Join us in recognising International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). 

IDAHOBIT raises awareness of the violence and discrimination still faced by LGBTQIA+ people across the globe. This year’s IDAHOBIT theme is The Power of Communities.

After raising the rainbow flag outside the Manningham Civic Centre, we’ll head inside to the Manningham Function Centre to enjoy morning tea  and hear from guest speaker Charlie, from LGBTQIA+ youth charity Minus18. Charlie will share some of the barriers and challenges that LGBTQIA+ young people experience, along with practical tips for supporting your LGBTQIA+ friends and family. 

This is a free event, however registrations are essential.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Free come and try evening for anyone looking to give women's social cricket a go.

For women and girls aged 12 years plus. No prior experience needed.

Orienteering is a sport in which participants use a map and compass to find points in the landscape.

Easy courses for beginners with coaching and assistance available on the day.

No equipment required.

Register beforehand or just turn up on the day.

A free, fun and inclusive day connecting children with disabilities to local sport and active recreation opportunities.

Disability Sports Australia and Manningham Council invite children living with disabilities to our free Variety Abilities Unleashed Kids event. 

Proudly supported by Variety Victoria - The Children's Charity and Matchworks, this multi-sport come and try day marks the initial steps in the active journey of children living with disabilities.

Each event enables and empowers participants to discover local active opportunities within a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. 

Participants will be split into smaller groups upon registration. After a welcome at 10.00am, they will rotate across 4 to 6 stations. These activities will consist of modified  sport and active recreation with the use of adaptive equipment to suit the participants. The stations will be facilitated by specialised coaches with the support of students and community organisations.

Registrations are required - places are expected to fill quickly, so register today!

For children and youth aged 5 to 18 years.

Free come and try women only fitness class at Aquarena. Yoga, Zumba or Pilates.

Suitable for ages 16 years plus.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes to move around in and appropriate shoes to exercise in.

What to bring: An exercise mat. Participants may be able to borrow one from the centre but stock is limited.

Women and girls of all ages and abilities, come and join us at Aquarena for a Beginner Bootcamp session.

Bring a friend with you!

Boot camp is a type of group physical training program. These sessions are designed to build strength and fitness through a variety of exercises.

What to bring: towel and drink bottle.

What to wear: comfortable exercise clothes and closed toe shoes.

Registrations are required.

Come and Try squash - school holiday fun at Westerfolds Sports Centre!

For primary and secondary aged children. 

• $8.00 per child Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
• $15.00 per child for a 1 hour class on Mondays at 10:00am across the school holidays

No bookings required.

Parents must supervise children at all times.

Come and Try table tennis - school holiday fun at Westerfolds Sports Centre!  

For primary and secondary aged children.

Come and try cricket at Wonga Park Cricket club. 

Wonga Park Cricket Club will be hosting fun and interactive games for This Girl Can, to showcase what cricket is. Come down and give it a go!

Suitable for women and girls of all ages and abilities.  No prior cricket experience needed.

A BBQ will be provided.

What to wear: comfortable clothes that allow you to move around freely and runners for footwear.

What to bring: water bottle and a hat.

Get ready for an inspiring movie during This Girl Can month! 

Join us for a special screening of Ride Like a Girl. The remarkable true story of a determined daughter of a horse trainer who dreams of becoming the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. Witness her journey of perseverance and passion on the big screen. 

What to bring: beanbag, cushions or a low camp chair.

Popcorn will be provided.

Parental guidance required - the movie is rated PG.

Enjoy the beautiful surrounds whilst participating in weekly Yoga sessions throughout November at Ruffey Lake Park.

Yoga sessions will occur at the newly install yoga deck in Ruffey Lake Park at the Boulevarde Hill Lookout.

Beginner sessions for women and girls of all ages and abilities. No prior yoga experience required. 

Sessions will be delivered by yoga trained staff from Active Manningham.

What to bring: an exercise mat, towel and a drink bottle.

What to wear: comfortable exercise clothes and runners.

Registrations are required. 

These workshops are led by experienced instructors to create a fun environment that involves games with a social focus.

During a Learn to Skate session, children and young people build confidence by learning about skate skill development, injury prevention, skate park etiquette and equipment maintenance.

Suitable for  beginners to intermediate skate boarders.

All genders and all abilities are welcome to participate.

Equipment available to use at the session or bring your own if you have it!

Lee Constable 

Lee is a science and sustainability presenter and edu-tainer. She is best known for hosting Network 10 kids’ science TV show Scope, as well as appearing on Studio 10 and War on Waste. Lee is the author of How to Save the Whole Stinkin’ Planet: A Garbological Adventure and How to Save the Whole Blinkin' Planet: A Renewable Energy Adventure. Lee uses comedy and humour on and off screen to reach untapped audiences and tackle the often-daunting topic of climate change. 

Ivy Sheng

Ivy is a 16-year-old student and youth advocate who is passionate about democracy, civic participation and community-led climate action. She is the creator and host of Taught, Not Told, a podcast that bridges generational gaps by sharing practical life lessons and personal stories from guests with diverse experiences – helping young people find clarity, direction and hope in an uncertain world. Ivy volunteers with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and City of Boroondara’s ‘Youth Voice’ reference group, where she works to make climate conversations more inclusive, grounded and hopeful.

Inspired Living Series – keynote speaker events

Our 2025 Inspired Living Series showcases five insightful, not-to-be-missed evenings. The series will introduce you to a diverse lineup of local keynote speakers who will offer unique insights on embracing sustainability.

Topics range from sustainable food to low waste lifestyles. Each speaker will share their journey – inspiring our audience to embrace positive choices, nurture a connection to nature, and foster community for a stronger, more resilient future.

Join us for Pride Night at Aquarena!

Pride Night is an inclusive gym and swim night for the LGBTIQA plus community and their allies. It is about providing a safe and welcoming recreation space for the community to listen to music, have some fun and participate in some physical activity. 

This is a free celebration with a DJ, performances, artisits, fun activities, fitness classes and access to pool facilities at Aquarena.
