Connecting our community through safe footpaths is one of the ways we’re building a better Manningham.

As part of our 2025/26 Capital Works Program, we’re improving pedestrian accessibility and safety around the intersection of Yarra Street, Mullens Road and Ringwood Warrandyte Road, Warrandyte.

Works will include:

  • building a pedestrian refuge island to help people cross the road
  • building new footpaths to connect facilities
  • upgrading the Mullens Road/Yarra Street bus stop (route 364)
  • installing kerb and channel
  • installing new signage and line-marking.

Where is it?

The refuge island will be built on Ringwood Warrandyte Road, Warrandyte, where it intersects with Yarra Street and Mullens Road.

Why is the footpath needed?

The new refuge island and footpath will improve pedestrian connectivity, safety, and accessibility around the area. It will link the existing river reserve trail with Stonehouse Café, the bus stop, and the Russell/Mullens intersection on the western side of Ringwood-Warrandyte Road. The upgrade will provide a safe and accessible walking route to encourage healthier, more active lifestyles.

When will the works happen?

Works are planned to begin in October 2025, taking around 6 weeks to complete. This schedule is subject to weather and soil conditions.

Construction will happen at night, between 9:00pm and 5:00am on weekdays to minimise traffic impacts.

The timing for the bus stop upgrade is yet to be confirmed.

How will the works affect me?

During the hours of 9:00pm and 5:00am, you can expect:

  • Single lane road closures
  • Temporary footpath closures
  • Reduced on-street parking.

Traffic management and signs will be in place to guide you around the works.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to improve the footpath connections in your area.
