The changing face of Australia’s landscape will be on display this winter at the Manningham Art Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Karen Standke: Full Circle. 

Opening on Wednesday, 11 July, the exhibition is inspired by the artist, Karen Standke’s many travels around Australia and her impressions gained over the last two decades.

Standke’s lush painting technique highlights the impact of climate change and the introduction of weeds and non-native flora and fauna to the Australian landscape. 

Exhibiting at the same time is The Landscape in Ceramics, an exhibition comprised of selected works from the Manningham Art Collection. 

This exhibition explores the many ways in which ceramic artists explore, respond and interpret landscapes. 

Manningham Mayor Cr Andrew Conlon said the exhibitions running concurrently focused on the visible and rapid changes in our environment and raised questions on how we respond emotionally and practically.

Two public programs are scheduled in July including a Floor Talk with Karen Standke at 12.00pm, Monday 23 July and a Landscape Vessels workshop with Amy Kennedy at 10.00am, Saturday 14 July.  

A special opening night for Karen Standke: Full Circle and The Landscape in Ceramics will be on Wednesday, 11 July, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
