wonguim wilam is one of Manningham's most popular parks and a major tourist destination. The local community and visitors often use the park for informal recreation activities. For the safety of children, wonguim wilam is a dog free zone.

Katrina Gully is located on the Koonung Creek Linear Park and is popular for dog walking and enjoying the panorama. The park is in the catchment of Birralee Primary School and Applewood Retirement Village.
Katrina Gully playground is perfect for the family with a shaded picnic area and playspace. This includes traditional play equipment as well as a nature play area. There also is an outdoor fitness hub and a basketball area with seating and drinking fountain provided.

As part of the North East Link Project (NELP), Doncaster Park and Ride will be closed from January 2025 and temporary bus stops will be put in place along Doncaster Road.
Buses will remain operational across all bus routes, including the 207, 280, 282, 284, 285, 303 and the 907 and 908 DART SmartBuses. The Park and Ride will be closed and temporary bus stops will be in place until 2028.
This is part of NELP’s upcoming redevelopment of the Doncaster Park and Ride to connect it to the Eastern Busway, a new dedicated busway along the Eastern Freeway.
We understand that the community and residents will be impacted as a result of the closures and are actively advocating on your behalf to improve commuter options. Our suggestions to North East Link Project and the State Government include:

Council officers have today seized two dogs suspected of being involved in animal aggression and livestock losses in the Wonga Park and Warrandyte South area.
This action was taken this morning, after officers were able to formally speak to an individual who is assisting Council with our ongoing investigations.

We are actively investigating reports of uncontained dogs, animal aggression and livestock losses in the Wonga Park and Warrandyte South area.
Since we received reports early last week, we have:
We have not received any reports of further attacks on livestock or wildlife since Monday this week.
As part of our ongoing investigation, we are collecting all available evidence and encourage any witnesses to contact us directly. Timely and accurate reporting will assist with our investigation.
Our officers are ready and available to follow up any new information and will meet with witnesses to take statements and gather evidence, once reported.
Direct evidence is required before we can take legal steps to seize or remove animals from a property. It’s important to note, social media speculation doesn’t assist our investigation, it can just create concern in our community. If you have witnessed something in relation to this matter, please contact us directly as we cannot act on social media content alone. Where we have sufficient direct evidence, we will take all appropriate and available actions.

We have officers on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to attend to emergency reports related to community safety.
Calls received outside of office hours, between 5.00pm to 8.30am and on weekends, are directed to our on-call after hours emergency service.
Under the Road Management Act 2004, we are responsible for street sweeping on local roads within Manningham to remove a build-up of fallen leaves and rubbish.
Street sweeping prevents the influx of leaf fall and litter from entering the underground drainage system potentially causing blockages, subsequent flooding and damaging the environment.
Litter not collected often ends up washing into open watercourses and into local creeks and the Yarra River.
Sweeping also benefits the overall amenity of the street, removes the build-up of dirt and leaves and reduces weeds along the kerb and channel.
Council is responsible for maintaining 608km of local roads within Manningham.

Street sweeping is run throughout the year to keep our streets clean. We increase the frequency in a number of streets during Autumn when there is more leaf litter on the roads. Shopping precincts and key locations are given high priority.

Here's an update on some recent and upcoming works delivered as part of the Ruffey Lake Park Masterplan.
The new sculpture by Natasha Johns-Messenger was installed in June this year.
Named EllipseCircleView, this artwork draws inspiration from the panoramic views of Ruffey Lake Park. Its simple geometric forms encourage visitors to contemplate their surroundings and appreciate the beauty of the landscape.

Works commencing soon
Starting in October 2024 and continuing through 2025, we’ll be enhancing the pathways around Ruffey Lake Park. These works aim to improve accessibility and connectivity, creating a better experience for park users.
Works will be carried out in stages through 2025, and will include:
King Street pedestrian bridge
We’re building a new bridge across Ruffey Creek to provide a safe and accessible all-weather connection for pedestrians. The bridge will offer an alternative to the existing narrow footpath along King Street.
These works will begin later this month and are expected to be completed in December. This schedule is subject to weather conditions.
King Street underpass widening
We’re widening the existing path under the King Street pedestrian bridge. The upgraded 2.5 metre wide shared path will support pedestrians and cyclists travelling through the area.
These works are scheduled to begin in 2025.
Quarry pedestrian bridge
We’re building a new bridge at the Quarry to provide a safe and accessible path for pedestrians. These works will likely begin in 2025.
Ruffey Lake boardwalk
We’re building a boardwalk along Ruffey Lake to create a safe, accessible, and visually appealing pathway that encourages the community to enjoy the lake and its surroundings.
The boardwalk construction is expected to start in 2025.

Do you want to learn to skate but don’t know where to start?
Come along to an All Aboard skateboarding session to learn skate skill basics and build confidence in a fun and inclusive environment!
You’ll learn about skate skill development, injury prevention, skate park etiquette, equipment maintenance and lots more.
Workshops are led by experienced instructors focusing on building skills in a fun and social environment.
All Aboard skate sessions are open to school-aged children and young people of all genders and abilities. No prior experience is needed.
Come to as many or as few workshops as you like.
Nothing! Skateboards, helmets and padding are all provided. If you have your own equipment and prefer to use that, you can bring it along.
Registrations are required.
These workshops are made possible thanks to Victorian Skateboard Association, and a Manningham Community Partnership Grant.
We invite residents to provide feedback on upcoming projects in Warrandyte and Wonga Park in November.
Our CEO, Andrew Day, encouraged residents to share their thoughts and ideas at upcoming consultation sessions – to help ensure future projects reflect community values and priorities.

Whether in private or public gardens, or in the natural environment, weeds compete with preferred plants for space, light, nutrients and water and often are designed to win in the battle.
In this community workshop participants will learn how to identify and control weeds using an integrated approach that minimises negative impacts on the environment.
