Article Content

We are currently seeking community feedback on a proposed upgrade of the northern oval at Warrandyte Reserve to improve facilities for the community, as well as for dogs and their owners.

We are inviting community members to share their thoughts about the proposal via Your Say Manningham closing on Monday 12 August.

Manningham Mayor, Councillor Carli Lange, said Warrandyte Reserve is a hub for the local community in Warrandyte and popular with dog owners.

“Warrandyte Reserve is enjoyed by many local sports and recreation groups, residents, dogs and their owners.” Cr Lange said.

The proposed upgrades include:

  • improvements to the path network between both ovals
  • a new shelter at the northern oval with seating and storage facility built in
  • a new drinking fountain with dog tap and bowl
  • improved fencing to allow easier access into the ovals
  • improved drainage and ground condition of the northern oval for better year-round use.

“We're proposing some dog-friendly improvements within the reserve and want to hear your feedback on the concept plan by 12 August,” Cr Lange said.

The proposed improvements at Warrandyte Reserve are supported by the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.

For more information and to provide feedback before Monday 12 August, visit YourSay Manningham Warrandyte Reserve northern oval upgrade.

Manningham Council is seeking community feedback on a concept design for an upgrade at Wombat Bend Playground.

Wombat Bend Playground is a much-loved regional playground catering to visitors of all abilities – created by the community, for the community. It embraces inclusive design to foster creative development, inspiration and imagination and to encourage the mind to explore.

The concept design developed for the playground upgrade reflects insights gathered from community consultations held in December 2024. The proposed upgrades include:

  • a diverse range of play equipment suitable for all ages and abilities
  • a dedicated swing zone with five different seat types
  • a larger water play area
  • a sand play zone with raised tables and a digger
  • a refurbished maze zone
  • improved access paths for better connectivity and movement
  • upgraded amenities, including new seating, picnic areas, drinking fountains, shelters, and BBQs
  • enhanced shade and expanded grassed areas
  • a new co-located fitness station.

Community consultation now open

To have your say on the Wombat Bend Playground concept design, visit yoursay.manningham.vic.gov.au/wombat-bend-playground-upgrade.

Council is also holding an onsite consultation session on Sunday 18 May.

Community members are invited to attend between 10:30am and 12:00pm (noon) to discuss the design directly with the project team.

Council values the input of the community in shaping the future of the Wombat Bend Playground and appreciates everyone’s involvement in making the playground a better space for all.

Consultation closes Monday 2 June 2025.

A concrete path leads up to two wooden poles with a gate between them. Above the poles sits a twisted metal sign with the words 'Wombat Bend'. A bushy parkland is in the background.

We want to hear from you! What do you love most about Wombat Bend Playground and how can we make it even better?

Take the survey

We’re making some minor enhancements to play items and existing picnic facilities at Wombat Bend Playground, as well as replacing play equipment that is no longer fit for purpose.

The upgrade will include:

  • selective upgrades to play equipment that show signs of wear
  • new play pieces
  • minor improvements to the picnic area adjacent to the playground
  • furniture and path improvements
  • review and potential upgrade of exercise equipment and location.

This project supports Burndap Birrarung burndap umarkoo (Yarra Strategic Plan) 2022-2032,  which aims to protect the health of the Birrarung (Yarra River)  and its lands. It also aims to improve parkland and recreational opportunities to support community wellbeing.

Carparking improvements, toilet building works and a major playground upgrade are not part of this project.

For more information and to take the survey, visit YourSay Manningham.

Survey closes 5.00pm, Thursday 12 December 2024.

There will also be an onsite consultation from 10.30am to 12.00pm (noon) on Sunday 8 December 2024. Please come and have your say on the day.

Feedback received during this consultation will help inform the final design for this playground.

Have your say on a new proposed name for Bulleen laneway – ‘Brickmakers Lane’
… – ‘Brickmakers Lane’ After receiving valuable community feedback in May this year, we're now proposing a new name for …
Article Content

We’re seeking your feedback on a new proposed name for an unnamed laneway in Bulleen that will provide addresses for two new properties created by the subdivision of 48 Templestowe Road.

In recognition of the area’s brickmaking past, we originally proposed to name the laneway ‘Kiln Lane’. The former Bulleen Brickworks was located nearby on Templestowe Road, which contained two large kilns and chimneys.

After receiving valuable community feedback in May this year, including concerns raised about spelling and correctly hearing the word Kiln, particularly over the phone, we've decided not to proceed with the name Kiln Lane.

We are now proposing a new name for the laneway, 'Brickmakers Lane'. This name was suggested by community during our consultation and maintains ties to the area’s brickmaking past. 'Brickmakers Lane' complies with Victoria's naming rules for places.

We're seeking community feedback on the new name, ‘Brickmakers Lane’.

Complete our feedback form before 5.00pm on Friday 16 August 2024.

We’ll share the consultation outcomes via the project’s Your Say Manningham page

Advocating for our community for the Doncaster Park and Ride
… of the Doncaster Park and Ride, which you can now provide feedback on and have your say.  On this page North East Link …
Article Content

North East Link Project (NELP) has released designs for the redevelopment of the Doncaster Park and Ride, which you can now provide feedback on and have your say.

The designs are within a draft Urban Design and Landscape Plan (UDLP), which shows that the Doncaster Park and Ride will connect to a new dedicated busway along the Eastern Freeway, known as the Eastern Busway.

The plan is to construct the facility into a modern version of its existing state (like-for-like), resulting in the Park and Ride being retained as a car park and bus interchange only, with a similar number of car parking spaces. The draft UDLP is currently on exhibition for public comment.

Council will be providing a submission in response to the UDLP to propose that the current plan is a missed opportunity to reconstruct the Doncaster Park and Ride as a mixed-use Transit-Oriented Development (TOD).

While the facility being redeveloped into a modern interchange is positive, this is a key opportunity for TOD, which could provide wide-ranging benefits to the community, environment and local economy.

We will be advocating that there is a growing demand for park and ride facilities due to population growth and the lack of any rail infrastructure in Manningham. This is shown through the high-usage of the newly opened Bulleen Park and Ride which consistently operates at capacity, and reinforces the significant opportunity this Doncaster Park and Ride site offers for our community.

As such, our submission seeks to include a multi-level car park with increased capacity, new open spaces areas, as well as retail and other commercial opportunities. This is in-line with our commissioned 2022 site design concept which was endorsed on 26 July 2022 as Council’s preferred redevelopment outcome for the Doncaster Park and Ride site.

We ask you to join us in advocating that Doncaster Park and Ride be reconstructed to include:

  • mixed-use transit-oriented development
  • increase in carpark spaces, or
  • flexibility to address population growth and allow for mixed-use development in future.

Have your say

Help shape the Doncaster Park and Ride. You can provide feedback while the UDLP is on exhibition until 5.00pm Tuesday 24 September 2024.

To find out more, or to make a submission, head to Engage Victoria.

What’s next?

Council will be considering its submission on the Doncaster Park and Ride UDLP at its meeting on Tuesday 16 September. Following this, the submission will be lodged on behalf of Council to Engage Victoria.

NELP will consider all written comments and submissions received, before the final UDLP is submitted to the Minister for Planning for consideration.

You can read more on the Big Build website and sign up to receive email updates.

Submissions close 5.00pm, Tuesday 24 September 2024.

Article Content

We’re seeking feedback on our draft Road Safety Strategy 2025-2035, which identifies road improvements, targeted education and speed zone reviews as our key priorities.

The draft strategy outlines clear objectives and a detailed action plan to enhance road safety and reduce traffic-related accidents, injuries and fatalities

Our Mayor, Councillor Deirdre Diamante, said this strategy will guide proactive projects and programs over the next decade.

“We’re committed to improving our transport system as we strive for ‘Vision Zero’— where nobody is seriously injured or killed on our roads,” said Cr Diamante.

“To plan for safer roads, we first needed to understand the local issues and experiences of road users in Manningham.

“We received more than 200 responses to last year’s community survey, which told us what matters most to our community.

“Now we want to ensure the proposed strategy and action plan accurately reflects community priorities,” she said.

Key proposed actions include:

  • road safety audits in high-risk areas
  • infrastructure upgrades
  • speed limit reviews
  • continual road user education
  • updates to the Manningham Walking and Cycling Strategy

The draft strategy was informed by feedback from last year’s community consultation, local road safety data, input from road safety partners and aligns with State and Federal strategies.

Have Your Say

Provide feedback by completing our survey on the draft Road Safety Strategy 2025-2035 via Your Say Manningham by 21 February 2025.

Feedback from the community and Councillors will shape the final version of the strategy, which will be presented for Council endorsement in early 2025.
