Warrandyte Theatre Company is joining the Ballarat National Theatre to produce a new work to be written by local playwright Emma Wood in collaboration with the community.

The new play, called 2020 Vision, aims to reflect and share real stories from during the pandemic and give a voice to stories from real people: the funny, the ridiculous, and the harder moments. The resulting play will be performed by local actors in a live event online, directed by Susan Rundle, produced by Adrian Rice and the Warrandyte Theatre Company.

The project will launch with a community Zoom meeting on Friday 25 September for locals to meet the creative team and ask questions. Following this, a new project Facebook page will be created and Emma Wood will use this to pose new daily questions which people can answer in a word, a line or a paragraph, and these responses will form the basis of the new play.

The play will be performed as a free online event on Friday 27 November and will be performed again live in Warrandyte at a date to be determined in 2021.

For more information and to follow announcements about the first Zoom meeting, keep an eye on the Warrandyte Theatre Company Facebook page or the website for the Warrandyte Mechanics Institute and Arts Association.
