To celebrate International Day of People with a Disability, Manningham Council and local community organisations are highlighting the importance of inclusion within community life for people living with a disability, with a week of events and activities
The celebrations will kick off with “Launch Pad to Inclusion” an event to be held at the Manningham Function Centre, on Wednesday 3 December, from 12 noon – 2.00 pm.
The event will feature comedian Tim Ferguson, key note speaker Rick Kane, chairperson for the Board of Disability Employment Australia, and Deb Rouget from Belonging Matters and people living with a disability sharing their personal stories and journey to inclusion within their local community
Local residents living with a disability will also be performing live acoustic music.
Activities will be held across Manningham from 2-10 December including:
- Make your own sensory toys workshop
- Inclusive exercise and dance programs
- All abilities dinner dance
- End of year performance from members of Three Vowels Theatre and
- A range of education programs.
International Day of People with a Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with a disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and wellbeing.
