World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday 13 June is taking on a different format this year and Manningham Uniting Church is one group celebrating by holding an event online via Zoom so you can join fellow knitters to celebrate the day.
During the event, join other knitting enthusiasts and beginners to knit beanies, jumpers, scarves or squares to be made into blankets for newly-arrived refugees and asylum seekers. Participants will also hear stories from refugees and asylum seekers who will receive the hand-knitted items.
All are welcome and knitting experience is not necessary. For those new to knitting, Manningham Uniting Church has produced a helpful video tutorial on how to knit the squares and to learn the pattern and skills prior to the event, and to help you practise. The church can also offer ‘no contact home delivery’ of patterns, wool and needles to Manningham residents, and is also able to help with downloading and learning to use Zoom before this event.
