The terrifying attacks on the Jewish community in Bondi last night are disturbing to all of us in the Manningham community. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and everyone affected, in particular our Jewish community here in Manningham.

I acknowledge the importance of Hanukkah as an important date in the Jewish calendar and trust that our Jewish community can find the strength to celebrate, even at this time of tragedy.

As Mayor I have reached out to our local Rabbi to express my sympathies on behalf of all at Manningham Council.

Our Manningham community vision is that we are a harmonious, peaceful community. We have many faiths in Manningham, and it is important that we continue to look out for each other and support our neighbours in their time of need. Antisemitism, and indeed any forms of religious intolerance must be called out and addressed to maintain this harmony.

Council will continue our important work to support a wide range of community groups to maintain and strengthen the peace and sense of community connectedness that makes Manningham such a beautiful and safe place to live.

A range of support options are available for anyone affected by this attack and can be found on our website.
