Manningham Council Chief Executive Officer, Joe Carbone has announced his resignation after three years in the top job with Council.
Mr Carbone said the decision has been a weighty one, but one he feels is timely and appropriate for both himself and the organisation.
“It has been an immense privilege to have had the opportunity to lead Manningham Council in the service of the community. This is a rare honour afforded to very few people.”
“I thank the current Councillor group for the confidence they have shown in me. It has been a personally outstanding experience and journey for which I am very grateful.”
“I have held senior Executive Director and Chief Executive posts since age 31and now 26 years later the time has come for me to put aside more time for family and travel ambitions. Aspects of my life, that a busy executive career has constrained.”
Mr Carbone said that in the past three years the organisation has steadily implemented Council’s mandate to level and curtail its expenditure base without sacrificing its capital program or services to the community.
“As a result, the organisation is well placed to take on the challenges put before the local government sector with the introduction of rate capping commencing in 2016/17, and the consequent constraints on revenue in to the future,” he said.
Council will begin the recruitment process immediately and it is expected an Acting CEO will be announced before Mr Carbone’s departure in late January 2016.
