Step into an immersive and unique cinematic experience this summer with the astounding, five-chapter video work, Augmented Organism, at the Manningham Art Gallery.
Filmed in breathtaking and remote Finnish landscapes entirely with drones and handheld cameras, this contemporary piece by Melbourne-based artist, Cy Gorman, combines dance, technology, environmental activism and world traditions in a transnational art and design project.
Manningham Council Mayor Cr Andrew Conlon said Augmented Organism depicted the journey of Gorman’s collaborator, the mysterious Jazmyne Geis, as she navigates the contrasting and visually stunning landscapes.
“Each chapter explores a different aspect of Geis’ journey, adjusting, responding and merging with changing landscapes, presenting a fusion of augmented movement, identity and environment,” he said.
“Premiering in Australia, this work is a must see for all film and environmental enthusiasts,” Cr Conlon.”
Cy Gorman is an internationally published music producer, film maker, contemporary movement choreographer and light and sound engineer.
Augmented Organism will run at the Manningham Art Gallery at 687 Doncaster Road, Doncaster from Wednesday 31 January, with an Artist Floor Talk and special viewing on 14 February, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
