Lee Constable 

Lee is a science and sustainability presenter and edu-tainer. She is best known for hosting Network 10 kids’ science TV show Scope, as well as appearing on Studio 10 and War on Waste. Lee is the author of How to Save the Whole Stinkin’ Planet: A Garbological Adventure and How to Save the Whole Blinkin' Planet: A Renewable Energy Adventure. Lee uses comedy and humour on and off screen to reach untapped audiences and tackle the often-daunting topic of climate change. 

Ivy Sheng

Ivy is a 16-year-old student and youth advocate who is passionate about democracy, civic participation and community-led climate action. She is the creator and host of Taught, Not Told, a podcast that bridges generational gaps by sharing practical life lessons and personal stories from guests with diverse experiences – helping young people find clarity, direction and hope in an uncertain world. Ivy volunteers with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and City of Boroondara’s ‘Youth Voice’ reference group, where she works to make climate conversations more inclusive, grounded and hopeful.

Inspired Living Series – keynote speaker events

Our 2025 Inspired Living Series showcases five insightful, not-to-be-missed evenings. The series will introduce you to a diverse lineup of local keynote speakers who will offer unique insights on embracing sustainability.

Topics range from sustainable food to low waste lifestyles. Each speaker will share their journey – inspiring our audience to embrace positive choices, nurture a connection to nature, and foster community for a stronger, more resilient future.

Event update

The weather may be rainy, so please bring wet weather gear.

If you can, bring along your reusable coffee cup and water bottle for drinks! We’re offering free coffee, and the park has drink taps to refill your water.

We’ll be closing the wonguim wilam car park before and during the event, so please allow some extra time to find parking if you plan to drive.

We encourage you also to consider sustainable transport options such as walking, riding a bike, catching the bus or carpooling.

Term 4 Superkick Program at Doncaster Junior Football Club.

Superkick is designed specifically for children of all genders aged 7 to 12 years to help develop their skills, without the pressure.

Each session starts with 15 minutes of practice before putting skills into action with up to 45 minutes of modified game play.

One-handed tag replaces any form of tackle, removing any pressure on participants and allowing them to develop in an inclusive environment at their own pace.

All girls groups are available.

Join us at the Manningham Asian Cultural Festival this Sunday for a free community celebration that will finish with a spectacular fireworks display.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the event at Doncaster Reserve on Sunday 9 March from 10.00am to 10.00pm.

A celebration of culture and community, the program will feature live music and performances including lion dancing and drumming, mouthwatering street food, rides and family friendly activities. The fireworks are expected to start at 9.00pm.

We’re proud to support this new festival, which is presented by the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse, organisers of the hugely popular annual Lunar New Year Festival in Box Hill.

Visit our festival tent where you can meet our Councillors throughout the day,  have a chat to our Healthy Ageing team about how we can help you to live and age well, and provide feedback on our arts, culture and local history programs in Manningham to help us develop a  new Arts Action Plan.

Festival-goers have the chance to win one of ten $50 Find Your Local shopping vouchers, simply by completing our short survey about the festival, which will help us plan for similar events in the future. Visit the Council festival tent to download your entry form. Terms and conditions apply*.

Don’t forget to drop into the Jackson Court shopping centre to browse more than 90 local traders.

We're counting down to Carols!

Manningham Carols by Candlelight returns on Friday 12 December, bringing festive cheer to Ruffey Lake Park from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Experience a magical evening of live music, entertainment and delicious food under the stars – capped off by a dazzling fireworks display.

This year’s event will be hosted by star entertainer and performer Lucy Durack and local Carols favourite Richard Thomas.

This is a FREE, but ticketed event. By registering, you'll receive important event information, including any announcements in the case of severe weather.

6:00pm - Pre-show entertainment

Enjoy performances by Code One and the Veneto Club Choir, get some tasty treats from the food trucks while the kids are entertained with fun activities including face painting.

7:15pm - Main concert

Hosted by Lucy Durack and Richard Thomas, enjoy your favourite carols performed by local and national artists.

Lucy is one of Australia’s most well-known leading ladies, with major roles to her credit in productions including Wicked, Shrek the Musical, Legally Blonde and Midnight the Musical as well as TV series The Letdown, Sisters, A Perfect Pairing and Doctor Doctor. She’s been a judge on Australia’s Got Talent and performed on The Masked Singer. 

Richard has been entertaining Melbourne audiences for more than 25 years. As an avid musical theatre performer, his credits include Mame, Sweet Charity, Follies, The Secret Garden, Les Miserables, Chicago, Rebecca, The Producers, The Phantom of the Opera and Mary Poppins.

Performers include:

  • All Star Carols Band led by renowned musical director John Turcio with Dean Cooper on drums, Robert Severini on bass, and Jack Pantazis on guitar.
  • Manningham Concert Band, led by esteemed musical director Andrew van Gemert.
  • Leyla Sabo, 12-year-old Melbourne singer-songwriter, who has performed on some of Melbourne’s biggest stages and has already released her first single Hard to Breathe.
  • Stephen Coutts, operatic tenor who has performed extensively with the Victorian Opera, Opera Su Presto, Victorian Concert Orchestra, Amore Duet, Melbourne Shakespeare Company and others.
  • Team Dream, one of Australia’s most exciting bands for kids.
  • Katrina Couroyannis, a Manningham local singer, dancer and actor whose professional credits include Australia’s Got Talent 2022 and performances with the Victorian Opera and major sporting events.
  • Chloe Lara, another talented local singer, who has performed in many productions and was principal vocalist for the Victorian State School Spectacular for seven years from 2012-2019.
  • Bianca Baykara, a Manningham performer whose credits include Jersey Boys in the US, Chess the Musical, School of Rock, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Rocky Horror Show, In the Heights, Singin’ in the Rain and more.
  • Tanjil Adams, a talented young performer who has featured at many eastern region events, performing both as a soloist and with her bands Soldiers Road and The Curls.
  • Catherine Bolzonello, from Manningham, is a classical soprano and experienced performer in Melbourne’s community music theatre, opera and concert scene.
  • Wendy Samantha Productions, these talented local students aged 6-18 are dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic, and love to get a crowd excited and happy.
  • Danielle and Michael Zuccala are a classically trained set of twins from Manningham, who will be performing two mezzo-soprano and baritone duets. They have trained at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium and performed in multiple operas and concerts across Victoria.
9:30pm - Fireworks finale
  • Enjoy our fireworks finale, which will go for approximately 8 minutes, weather permitting.
  • Please leave pets at home, as fireworks cause distress to animals.
  • In the case of high winds and extreme weather, including a declared day of ‘total fire ban’, fireworks will not proceed.

Getting there - parking and transport

Parking

  • Parking is limited, so plan ahead and if possible, walk, cycle or get dropped off at the event. 
  • Our dedicated drop-off zone is on George Street (Ruffey Lake Park side, only for eastbound traffic).
  • Free parking is available on King Street, a short stroll through Ruffey Lake Park to the event.
  • Accessible parking is available via The Boulevarde off George Street (near the playground). Please show your accessible parking permit to the traffic controllers on the night. Carols is located in a park on a natural grassed slope. There are paved pathways from the accessible parking zone to the stage area, which is about a 100m to 150m walk away.
What you can bring and what you can't

What to bring

  • Picnic rug and/or low-back, fold-up chair. There is a designated ‘rugs-only’ zone in front of the stage for optimal visability.
  • Torch, warm clothes, comfortable shoes. 
  • A reusable water bottle to fill up at our free water station.
  • Picnics are welcome, and food is also available for purchase.

What not to bring

  • Tents, marquees, glassware, fireworks or pyrotechnics of any type. 
  • Please leave pets at home. 
  • This is a smoke and vape free event.
     
Food

Bring a picnic or enjoy delicious food available for purchase from one of our many food trucks.

Rotary Manningham City will be putting a sausage sizzle with funds raised going back into the local community.

Pets
  • Please leave your pets at home, so they are not frightened by the fireworks.
  • The fireworks finale begins at 9:30pm, and will run for about 8 minutes. If you live nearby, please secure your pets in a safe, comfortable location during the display.
Accessibility

We aim to make Carols accessible to all by providing:

  • A large screen located next to the stage
  • An Auslan interpreter
  • Accessible toilets 
  • Accessible parking via The Boulevarde off George Street (near the playground). Please show your accessible parking permit to the traffic controllers on the night.

Come along for a free two week trial of our all new Learning the Fun Way - through music, movement and play program.

Sessions are designed for children 6 months to 7 years. Children are supported by their parents/carers to learn a huge range of age-appropriate skills and understandings in a creative, fun and interactive way.

Separate classes will be offered, specifically catering for children with ASD, ADHD or learning difficulties.

Where applicable, please include a description of your NDIS goals or ILP goals, to ensure we can cater towards your specific needs.

Class timetable

Mondays: 

  • Kinder kids (4 year olds) - 9.45am to 10.30am
  • Babies (6 months to walking) - 10.45am to 11.15am
  • ASD / ADHD (3 to 5 year olds) - 11.30am to 12.45pm plus 30 minutes 'stay and play' 12.45am to 1.30pm

Wednesdays:

  • Kinder kids (4 year olds) 9.45am to 10.30am
  • Toddlers (walking to 3 year olds) 10.45am to 11.15am

Kelly Sports has summer entertainment covered with a jam-packed holiday program filled with sport and recreation activities. From soccer and cricket, to tag games, kids will have a blast staying active and learning new skills.

The Kelly Sports team are supportive and encouraging. Their aim is to help kids get active, develop skills, build confidence and gain a lifelong love for sports and recreation.

Manningham Council are partnering with Kelly Sports to offer a limited number of low-cost, full and half day places in their holiday program. 

Participants can select from a range of activities, times and days. Spaces are limited, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Program information

  • classes are for children aged 4 to 12 years
  • participants must be Manningham residents to qualify for the subsidised rate
  • only one application can be submitted per child

How to apply

To secure one of the low-cost places, register your interest now via the online form. Once you have submitted the form, a Council officer will contact you to confirm registration into your nominated Kelly Sports program.

Help your kids be more confident in the water this summer with Active Manningham's Holiday Accelerated Swim Program (HASP).

Enrol now for a week of aquatic adventure and skill building. This program is designed to help develop individual swimming skills quickly. 

Classes run for 30 minutes over five consecutive days, at the same time each day. 

Participants will learn swimming and water safety skills from nationally qualified swim teachers.

Program information

  • classes are for students over three years of age
  • no partial bookings (you must sign up for the full five days)
  • no refunds - credits may be permitted if a medical certificate is provided before the program commences
  • all participants must follow the Watch Around Water requirements
  • all children under 10 years are required to have an adult (parent/guardian) supervising them while at Aquarena. Children will not be able to participate in lessons if there is no adult present to supervise.
